Great Fun!
Excellent game that keeps the kids amused for hours, and while they don't realise it, helps their maths as well. First half of the game is on one side of the board where you gain advantages and disadvantages for your horses, and the second part of the game is on the other side of the board where the actual race takes place. Needing to throw the exact number to win the race, the excitement with our kids becomes quite intense! All the fun of owning a racehorse, auctions, betting and the thrill of winning a race. Lightweight and nostalgic fun
This took me back YEARS! I fondly remember playing this as a child and being hooked on the race.... Nowadays it is a bit dated in its gameplay.... roll dice and move... but it's still fun - especially in the race when the horse you have as your favourite is getting close to the end. There is a surprising amount of mental maths involved in the game - working out percentages and adding / subtracting which is good educationally for younger players. A Timeless Game
Although no longer made by Waddingtons this game has been reproduced by Funskool and made in India but is the same as I remember from the early to mid 70s. The only thing that is missing from the current version are the betting receipts but these are not essential to the game.
