Print server function does not work - Correction - Print server works fine now
I ordered this router specifically for the print server function. However, once I plugged my printer into the USB 2.0 port, it was displayed on the basic network chart, but it does not show up in the printer control software. The printer is on the printer compatibility list. It just won't respond to the printer commands. As a router, however, it performs much better than my old Belkin G unit, which had started to drop connections regularly. Besides reaching my entire house, it gives very strong signal when measuring diagonally from one end of the first floor to the bedroom on the second floor at the far end of the house, probably 50 ft. or so. In its literature, TP_Link hypes its "beamforming" ability, and I would say that this function does seem to work. I also had the idea of using the USB 3.0 port for a HDD but after seeing some of the forum traffic, I'm not sure I want to try that yet. I will give the unit 5 stars once all the USB functions work.
Update 11/17/2016 - My Bad! The print server function works fine. The problem was a partially deleted firewall program that didn't show up in the program list, or anywhere else, but continued to function. I discovered this by accident when running my desktop (wired) connection and seeing the printer displayed. I then checked the Windows Security Center, which had a note that I had two firewalls running simultaneously. It took a little tinkering to restore some of the deleted firewall files, but after that, the wireless printer showed up in the configuration program. As a result, I changed my rating to 5 stars.
