I originally bought a bought a simple ~$8 hard plastic case because I value the thin profile, but it provided no real purpose as I had no confidence in its ability to protect the phone. This TUDIA MERGE case is a great fit - mimimal bulk added, hard plastic piece incorporated in to the softer TPU is seamless and definitely provides additional protection, cut-outs are spot on. This case also ensures the mic (little hole above the camera on the back) is not covered by the case, many of the other options in this price range disregard a cut-out for the mic. The rubber bumper buttons over the power and volume buttons function perfectly as if they're part of the phone. Front screen lip is just enough to keep the screen off the surface when placed face down, but doesn't affect your fingers when swiping or texting. TPU soft cover is "medium light" in thickness, but is unusually rigid strong - if you pull on the long sides outward away from the edge of the phone there's very little give movement.
