The Manfrotto 808RC4 Tripod Head is built for the Professional Photographer. Solid construction and most important is the brilliant well balanced design. Handles for positioning the camera quickly and easily are the right length and grip to make camera movement a breeze. Once you have your camera pointed exactly where you want it you can 'taper' the position hold with friction grip the handles provide also. Manfrotto 804rc2 tripod head not as smooth as it should be
One expects a tripod head for video to move up/down, side to side in smooth motion. This Manfrotto 804rc2 tripod head does not. The initial movement requires an extra effort creating a jerking motion. Once in motion it's fairly smooth but even then there are spots where resistance is evident. Loosening the drag knob helps a little bit. It's not a video head that I'd recommend for video shooting. All that I said may only pertain to the head that I received. Silky Smooth Movement
This 3-way head is awesome. Incredibly stable with ultra-smooth motion on all 3 axis'. While it is on the "heavy" side at just over 3.5 lbs (1.6 Kg), that is part of what makes it so damn stable. This was an upgrade for me from a ball head and I only regret that I didn't upgrade sooner.
