Still excellent
Bought it used for mobile operation. Arrived in excellent condition with SSB filter and TCXO (I installed a CW filter). Very straightforward installation in my vehicle. Easy to operate, lots of helpful stuff to be found on the NET (the original manual is not always clear, and there is more than one way to do things). IMHO, even though it is not a new design and the "replacement" (IC-7100) is available, still among the best rigs for mobile operation. Radio works but has its problems
seperation cable was broken, Radio will blank out during communications I am trying to figure out if its the mic or the radio (may have to send to ICOM to verify everything is good to go, could have been the separation cable, I just replaced that so time will tell) the radio works AFAIK so that is a good thing.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

One if the best made
I gave owned many hf rigs in my 30+ years of amateur radio. This model created by ICOM is one of the best. Once you get acquainted with the menus it is amazing how easy it is to navigate while mobile and certainly a breeze when used as fixed base station. Great radio
This was one of Icoms best multi band radios, the IC-706MK2G is very nice and durable mobile rig. I have owned 3 of them and currently have one in my truck. Paired with a great antenna they are to beat. When properly tuned these radios will perform effortlessly on all bands with decent TX power and RX is very clear.
