I LOVE This Recorder!!! ;-D == BIG SMILE HERE
This recorder, the WS-853, is basically the same as the monaural VN-8100PC. The 2 main differences are THIS one is STEREO (YES!), which works VERY WELL separating the left/right, and it has a BUILT-IN USB plug that you just slide out to plug into your PC/Mac... I DON'T HAVE A CORD TO KEEP UP WITH_ YEA!!! :-) Neither require any sort of special drivers to get the recordings onto your system, which is a god-send for me... been there - done that with another recorder which needed one_ REAL P.I.T.B. for yours truly here. The speaker quality is okay, as I have heard a lot worse. You can do the LOOP thingy, where you press a key where you want the playback to start, then press again to set the end. The TWO things it doesn't have the ability to do is split recordings, and continue, or append, a recording from the end after you finish the recording. But having no real NEED for the two functions, which OLYMPUS does offer in other recorders, it's no biggie. I am really happy I got this STEREO recorder.
