One of the greatest consoles made
The PS3 super slim is arguably the best model of PS3 made, and one of the best games consoles ever produced. Harddrive: The 500gb version will hold a ton of games without the need to delete anything. A quick Google states the larges install size is around 10gb, and the average around 4gb. Taking the average file size of 4gb this is 125 games all on one system! Graphics: If you take red dead redemption as an example, you will see just how good a massive game can look on this system. It was a massive leap from the PS2 era, and honestly the first few years of the PS4 generation look similar to what the PS3 produces. Games: In Europe (Pal region) there was over 1,000 games for the console released, with a good number of them being incredible. Some examples to look up are below: red dead redemption, The last of us, Metal gear solid 4, Bio shock, Skyrim, fallout New Vegas, Minecraft, Uncharted, Infamous, Little big planet, Portal 2, batman Arkham asylum. As a footnote to this section, games for this console can be picked up for less that £5 each now. Additional information: - With the superslim not having a moving disc tray, the likelihood of needing to replace it is gone. - You can buy a small harddrive version and put your own replacement in. Older generation but still great fun.
Despite the fact that this is an old console now it still boasts hundreds of great titles. The prices are decreasing significantly along with the fall of PS4 prices so you can pick one up for less than a day's wages and have months and months of fun with it. Why pay more?
I was after the game play, the latest genera of entertainment to go beyond the passive and venture into the interactive. I didn't mind it being the last generation of games, and so this console was just the ticket. The games for PS3 are a lot cheaper on this console than the latest box, and they aren't that out of date. The numbers of these things sold means there will still be some support for this platform. As an example GTA 5 is available on PS3 and that's one of the better game for that genera. There are also the classic games which will never be out of fashion like Portal which you can pick up for a steal. This console also has the PlayStation store, so game updates and downloads straight to the box are possible, plus there are a variety of other uses for this box,with free apps such as Netflix and BBC iplayer etc. I am not really a gamer, but having seen GTA 5 i thought i would dabble. The only thing you sacrifice is perhaps the higher resolutions, which I don't really need to enjoy those games. Most people will see the word game and think Children, even when these games come with 18 certificates. Others will see games as something you discard with your youth, even when you have more traditional games where leather balls are kicked about by grown men ;) I prefer to see games as ways to keep your mind agile. Super quiet, super compact, super fun!
I purchased a PS3 Super Slim to replace my trusty original PS3 Phat that had soldiered on for over 10 years before finally conking out, if this one lasts as long I'll be happy. The first thing you notice is just how tiny and light it is, I mean, it's *tiny*. The second thing, is that they have replaced the nice sliding disc mechanism with a very cheap-looking sliding door. The door is spring operated and opens with the press of a button whether the console is powered on or not. The console itself looks cheap and nasty on photographs, but out of the box and sat under the TV, it actually looks very smart and nicely designed. The 500GB should be more than enough to accommodate a decent-sized collection of digital games. Great console, great price. Highly recommended for PS3 fans.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
