It worked right out of the box using a YouTube unboxing video
I have not had any other slingbox but I always wanted to buy one. I read a lot of complains about ads and what not, and I am not that bothered by that, so I decided to buy an older device, if I hated it The loss will be minimal. The product set I bought, brought a video adapter composite to hdmi and an HDMI splitter, the ad also mentioned compatibility with X1 and all of it gave me confidence. I unboxed the slingbox, all the adapters were connected, connection to the power, the tv, the cable box, restart the slingbox, create an account on slingbox and follow the prompts to setup the 350... 10 minutes later I was watching cable on my pc and changing channels. Reducing Cable Costs
Was paying for TV service at two locations, bought the box to eliminate one. Decided to stay with Xfinity because of their Xfinity ToGo App (aka Stream) works well on the IPad, laptop, and Android phone (you cannot not cast from the phone or iPad, just the laptop). At first, I tried to get the Sling Box to work with Xfinity's small cable box in the back bedroom that's is not used much (by Arris), no luck so I put it in the living room on Xfinity's bigger cable box (by Cisco) -- connected instantly and easy to setup. I have it connected to the router via Ethernet cable and have access to all my Xfinity channels wherever I am on my phone or iPad, but can only cast the phone to a big tv. I was even able to watch my shows via someone's slow DSL isp, although the picture is best on faster isps. Sound is good also, I highly recommend the Sling Box. Also, keep the power plugged in on phone, iPad, etc when watching tv from your Sling box.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Easy Setup
Setup is easy. If included instruction sheet does not exactly describe your situation, online scenarios at Sling site probably will. This model requires Ethernet connection between Slingbox and your router, probably a good thing, albeit inconvenient. Being able to visualize and operate your own remote while in a different city or continent is amazing. when casting to tv, it's in standard ratio - no widescreen. THATS THE ONLY DOWNSIDE! Setup was almost a breeze, if u have comcast u need to search google to get a custom remote file, other than that it was streamlined process. I had my parents add an extra HD box on their cable plan and pay them the $10 a month, and BOOM! $10 cable plan!!! You get used to the slow channel changing process and slow On Demand commands; u start to count the clicks you need to make and get to where you want to be before the casting even catches up. Exactly as Expected, Works Great!
Great upgrade over the Sling Solo I had. Seems Sling has decided unduly and arbitrarily to not support the Solo on FireTV app, so I needed at minimum a 350, this works great! Slingbox 350
The Slingbox 350 was easy to get hooked up and running. For years I was told about what the Slingbox could do but I had no need for it until now. Traveling on the road this device will allow me to catch up with my cable DVR recordings. Slingbox: The best kept secret
I have several slingboxes. I find them easy to setup. They work great if you have a strong wifi connection on your viewing end.
