Genuine Mitutoyo, and well worth the extra expense.
This is a genuine Mitutoyo vernier caliper, and it works well. Nicely made, and it goes back to zero every time. I've had cheap ones, which were ok, but they always had niggling problems in use. Quality tool.
If you want quality and accuracy then this is the caliper to go for. The quality compared to the Chinese copies is so far superior but then what else would you expect. There is no slop in the caliper movement unlike the piece of c**p copy I bought previously. I've been using budget calipers for years and finally treated myself to some mitutoyo ones. The repeatability is the major difference, they measure the same dimension each time to 0.01mm (not the documented accuracy) where as the bargain ones tended to float a bit. Super precision tool
The calliper seems to be new, but when it arrived it was not in a sealed bag as illustrated and there were no instructions in the lid as illustrated.
