Does the Job!
I've been intending to buy one of these for a year or so to reduce the chances of dropping hot ash by carrying an unprotected ash pan from the multi-fuel stove to the back door, with the inherent risks of tripping over a dog or cat. My local fireplace specialist quoted me £80 which, although might possibly have bought me something a bit more heavy duty (why??) seemed excessive. This will accept up to 4 ash pans (hot or cold) full, and is simple to use, reduces the risk of spillage and dust, and is basically just what I needed. Practical galvanised box for hot ash
Really useful galvanised box, for letting the hot ash from the fire cool down. Plenty big enough, and a practical long rectangular shape which is ideal for emptying the ash tray from our multi-fuel stove. Paid an extra £1 to get the 'free' shovel, which is fine too. Great item
This has revolutionised the way I go about emptying the ash from the stove. You can get a lot in it so only one trip outside to the bin and no more chewing on a mouthful of ash the minute you open the door and the wind catches the pan. The whole ashpan will fit in if needed but as it's contained you can tip it in with minimal dust rising up Great for the price. Looks reasonably sturdy for the job too.

Perfect for the job
Holds 2 - 3 days of ash from my Rayburn before requiring emptying. I've fixed a hook to an outside wall and the box sits at a perfect angle to tip the contents of the ash pan into.
