Versatile fun quad
The Traxxas Alias was my first fully acrobatic, fun quad. The new Aton continues and enhances that experience. Not only is it agile and acrobatic, it also has excellent features. If you fly out of range, it comes home. If you turn off the transmitter, it comes home. When your battery gets low, the transmitter beeps at you. If you try to run out the battery, it comes home. Now that's one great feature! It also does push button flips, including diagonal!! Show your friends that one! You can set a couple of useful parameters with the cell phone app. I set my "come home" altitude to 30'. I also set the attack angle at the maximum. You can also set speed for film mode. When you use that mode, it will sit rock solid in quite a bit of wind. All in all, one fine quad! I have twelve different size quads. This and my Spedix quad are my two best. First few days flew great returned to home well even on rate mode was great flying experience. Traxxas Aton is a standout.
I own several drones that cost several thousand dollars and are very technical, but the two Traxxas Atons I own are my fun favorites. The Aton can do video photography that is top rate, all you do is add a go-pro and start filming. The Aton has three flight modes that can please the newbie to drones to an expert mode that takes only the most experienced to fly it. My favorite is sport mode,The Aton turns I to a fast flying acrobatic. Speeds in excess of 50+ are capable with this machine so make sure you have plenty of open room and have the flight experience. The Aton in my opinion is the best first drone for those serious about getting into the hobby ,this machine can take a beating,literally. Put it in film mode and anyone can fly her with ease in minutes,it's a very forgiving machine. On top of everything is Traxxas ledgendary customer service,the people there are super and will take the time to make sure it's right,also fast repar times. Great brushless sport flyer
While you can hang a camera on it, this quadcopter it is better as a sport flyer with GPS. It is quiet and well behaved in Film and Sport modes. There is an Expert mode, but I must warn you that it does not stabilize itself in that mode. You can fly with or without the supplied legs. They are only needed if you are going to fly with a camera. It has rubber feet on each arm to land on. Controller is toy like and is easy to use with different stick ends to suit the way you fly. Love that it does not normally need to be calibrated like some many other GPS quadcopters and the Christmas tree lights on it provide ample indication of what is going on. It took about one to one and a half minutes to capture enough satellites for the GPS to work. The Return to Home works and it also has a automated flip button. This is a fun quad to fly, but in my opinion it is not for a beginner and it is a little expensive also. Be aware that the battery has a proprietary connector and if you want to use your own charger you will have to buy an adapter.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Plenty of power. Flying modes can be catered to experience. Pro mode is insane. I like what they've done here. Pretty durable. I've crashed multiple times in pro mode. It's held up fine.
