Back to the old days
I've probably used every razor except for a cut-throat I would probably cut myself to pieces on that. I started off shaving with the standard gillette safety razor around 1971. I used that for about 3 years before I switched to a double blade, since then I've tried the 3 and the 5 plus numerous electric battery and mains razors. I thought the time was right to go back to basics and I chose this simple enough razor - these use to cost pennies when I firts started as you open up the whole top rather than just the blade housing as in the gillette safety razor series. It's done enough to warrant a 3 out of 5 as it's 'okay' nothing brilliant just does what it's supposed to do and I only knicked myself a couple of times. Now that I'm better with more practise it's nice to go back to the old way and get a decent shave without having to go around again and again even with new heads on electric razors. At £5.99 it was cheap enough but a bottom opener in the same range I've noticed is £36.00 how that price can be charged I'll never know but c'est la vie. it does it's job and I used the green Derby Extra razor blades.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Fabulous For Price
This was my 1st DE razor. Was rather sceptical - only a straight razor gives me a close shave and this seemed too flimsy and light to be good. I fitted a Derby Extra blade though (alignment was perfect with no fiddling) and WOW! The fastest & closest shave I've ever had, despite having heavy growth. No burn, only one tiny nick.. Day 2 - No nicks. MUCH easier than I expected! Downside - It's very light & not a luxury razor. Will move onto a Merkur at some point but keep this for travel. Great starter/test razor. Clean sweep
I purchased the Jegen David safety to replace my old Gillett safety razor which I inherited when my Father passed away That was when I was nineteen I'm now Sixty three and I don't know how long he had had it for . I loaded a Gillett platinum blade into the Jegen David razor and used my Nivia shave bowl and brush for a good lather it gave a good shave I must admit It glided like a good one . I did get a little razor burn but that could be down to me but it gave a very close shave . I must say I'm glad I bought it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it .Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
