    Using with a video camera

I bought this Tascam audio recorder to use with a video camera and it has been excellent. Very easy to synchronise in post production the camera track with the Tascam audio track using the camera's built in mic, (do a handclap at the start) but the Tascam gives vastly improved sound quality. The Tascam can be placed in the ideal position for minimising unwanted noise, not where the camera has to be! I have also bought a furry windshield from eBay to fit, for outside use. It has various record settings, I use it on 48MHz to match my video and WAV for higher quality.

    Tatty Tascam

I bought this as B stock. According to the blurb it was an unwanted gift. The package had been opened but everything had been put back In its rightful place and looked good. I spent hours recording my various pieces and according to the meters it was picking up every sound. I came to play it back; pressed play absolutely nothing. I read and reread the instructions. In the end I plugged it into my my amp. It had recorded everything perfectly well; even my mistakes! Nonetheless the blues said this had been tested but obviously its internal speaker had not. As I paid not that much short of a new one; I am still rather upset.

  • Great portable recorder

Love this little recorder. I owned a more expensive zoom and this one is just as good if you only need to record 1 channel/track at a time. Good battery life, sou d quality is great and fits into your pocket. I use it mostly for recording songs from my Electron gear and also multiple synths through a behringer audio interface. Highly recommend.

  • Excellent results for a low cost item

This has given excellent sound recording in a variety of locations and situations. It is ideal for the amateur cinematographer but would also rate in the semi-pro league. I had 2 x Zoom recorders at twice the price fail on me and this one stepped in and saved the day. If you want a good clear recording for a great price you can't beat this little Tascam. I love it's perfornmance and quality for a decent price

  • My first audio recorder.

I have been looking for a well priced audio recorder for some time to hopefully use to add content to my drum and bass tunes. I didn't want to spend to much but wanted a recorder with as good audio recording quality as possible for a decent price. I think these go for about £100 new, I managed to get mine for £50 pre owned. It's great tbh. The interface is absolutely superb and you don't really need instructions to use it, a browse the the menus for half an hour is all that's needed really. The screen is nice bright and clear, showing all the info you need. The audio as far as I have tested so far seems great, very crisp but not harsh. You have an option to set the recorder to auto levels to prevent clipping but the setting the levels is so easy I wouldn't bother setting it to auto. It has an option(pre record I think) enabling the recorder to record the 2 seconds previous to the record button being pushed so you don't miss the beginning of an interview for example. So far I have only 1 complaint, that the device plastic feels terribly thin and cheap. This budget device does what it's designed to do but don't expect it to survive many falls. Highly recommended.

  • Tascam DR 05

Firstly it came well packaged, always a plus in my book. Instructions are provided but you do not really need them as the unit itself is self explanatory. The sound quality is simply out of this world and the ability to speed up or slow down playbacks is a massive selling point. The unit sits comfortably in the hand and all buttons can be reached by your thumb. All in all the Tascam DR 05 is one of the best on the market.

  • Great recoded sound

Good value for money, compact and lightweight. This recorder has a lot of features which can be difficult to set up, but, if you keep it simple it is very easy to use. Great recoded sound

  • Tascam voice recorder

Have used for recording guitar playing. Cannot recommend as it does not plug directly into amp & has noise/ volume issues on playback. This is clearly marketed towards the musicians field,(see ads in various mags'), but is not purpose made for the job. This, in my opinion,is a journalists or other, piece of kit. No more,no less, but in no way any good for the purpose I bought it.

  • got everything you need at rehearsals

Stick it on a photo tripod, ..it has the mount and record your entire rehearsal, studio session, clear recording, no noise. You can even tune your instruments, or check you are on key as it has a built in tuner!

  • Tascam DR-05

Easy to use and quality product. Menu is navigational. Will give it the first studio test later this week. I have used a similar product by Zoom before and it provides really good feedback about how the band was sounding, points for more work and generally a home practice aid between rehearsals. I am a long term fan of Tascam products, I still own a 4-track analog tape recorder and it is in working order.
