Just buy it
I'm coming from a Protank 2 which I had mounted to an Aerotank v2 base. I've been rebuilding the PT2 coils and, for the most part, this setup has given me a satisfactory vaping experience. I became interested in the Subtank, not because I am interested in sub-ohm vaping, but because I was interested in an easier rebuilding experience associated with the Subtank RBA.
When I got this baby, the first thing I did was build my usual coil on the RBA base. A contact 8/9 wrap of 26 gauge kanthal around a 2mm screwdriver. This gives me 1.2 ohms and I usually run 8 - 12 watts to it. With the same coil and the same power setting, this thing performs far better than my trusty Protank 2. It heats up faster, produces more vapor, and gives off more flavor. It's been a revelation.
My local vendors charge $45 for this product (and that's if they even have it in stock). At $23.99 shipped, this product is an amazing value. I paid a little more than half of what I would have paid if I had bought locally. For those of us living on a budget, that's an appreciable difference.
At this price, buying the Subtank Mini is a no-brainer. If you're coming from an older Kanger design such as a Protank 2 or an Aerotank, go ahead and pull the trigger. You will not be disappointed.
