Skywave
I was looking for a small AM/FM/SW radio to carry in my "man bag". I have a Sangean 909 but it was a little too heavy, the skywave is just the right size and weight to keep up with world news without having to lug around a heavy radio. The controls are intuitive and anyone will be able to use this radio. I have not had a good opportunity to test out the SW portion of the radio yet but I will as I like to get up early and fool around before work. The antenna seems a little small for any serious SW listening but I have an old reel type roll up antenna that can be installed is ne be. One thing to be aware of and this is a problem with the Sangean as well, is the on/ off button protrudes out from the front a little and it is too easy to accidentally turn on the radio. once I pulled the Sangean out to find dead batteries only three days after installing them and once I pulled the Skywave out and it was already on so, be careful about accidentally turning the radio on. Bottom line, for the money, this is a great radio and every body should have a SW for emergency use for when it "hits the fan".Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Compact and versatile

Little Gem of Radio covers the Broadcast Bands
so far radio, so small is /makes a very good travel companion,i like the weather band, and a major reason for buying. I have not heard anything on the Air Band, even though about 15 mi. from a major airport. I have not used SW but assume external ant, is needed to really pull out signals. AM/FM bands most used and seem very good. Unit only needs two AA batteries and can be recharged via mini USB jack(not supplied) and using rechargeable NiMh batteries. Great little pocket Radio!!! Check out the features online you will not be disappointed.
First the Pros, It is small and easy to carry or use like I do in bed as a sleeping aid. Night AM radio is very interesting. I like the way the face lights up so you can see it in the dark and the sleep timer is cool. I still need to try the shortwave, but I would recommend this to anyone needing or wanting a great AM/ FM pocket radio. It is Quality compared to a cheap AM/FM Radio. The one I had lost the volume control and was useless with ear pods after a short time. This radio comes with ear pods and the sound is nice. Best compact radio
Having had time to use it, I am very happy with the Skywave. I'm a Ham radio guy getting my license back in 1975 so I'm not the new kid on the block. The AM band has good sensitivity. Easy to store stations in the memory. Volume is loud enough(tiny speaker so there just are going to be some limitations). FM band is just fine also. Shortwave is hard to tell because of all the computer interference in my house....but I'm betting it's just great when I go out camping in the desert. I will take along a 20 foot piece of wire with alligator clip on one end to truly enhance the shortwave experience. Very compact....can put it in my pocket. Earbuds are very nice. They work well. The battery life(2 AA batteries) is exceptional. When I start going out camping this fall, I like to sip on a glass of Pinot Noir while dxing the AM Broadcast band.....so not having a built-in wine corkscrew is the only negative thing I can think of for this little gem KF7RY KenVerified purchase: YesCondition: New
