This meter is well made and meets most of the minimums specified in the eevblog. This meter compares favorably with meters in the 70 - 120 dollar range circa Nov 2015. It has a substandard capacitance range but is equipped with HRC fuses and has a spare pair of HRC fuses stored internally. More experienced reviewers than I describe the overload protection as adequate and better than average for the 100 dollar price range. On my unit, fresh from the box, new Kodak batteries (not included), and the stock probes the continuity test is almost indistinguishable from instantaneous.
A true full function digital multi-meter with that also measures not only DC current but also true RMS AC, AC current as well as capacitance and frequency. The auto ranging can be a bit slow so I often just set it on the range I need. 6 AA batteries gives it much longer battery life than the more common 9V battery. I haven't tried the PC interface although it seems like a useful feature.
Radioshack multimeter 2200087 USB-PC real-time logging and thermocouple (from: kobaiyashi1)
Bought this multimeter as recommended by Robert Murray Smith. I am pleased with it. Primarily wanted the PC interface and logging over time feature. It's very cool. Thermocouple is a bonus feature that I'm sure will come in handy.
One thing to take note of software is not a 'wise installer' You have to install the application and the driver separately. Not a big deal , took me about 30 seconds to figure it out. Had to read the read-me....
Polling is a little slow, 1 second intervals. Not a huge deal, it's not an oscilloscope after all. Aside from that it's a very cool and up to date piece of kit.
Confirmed function on Win7 X64. It also uses AA batteries which is way more handy than 9V
USB patch cord is very high quality.
If your wondering if it's worth it, I say it is.
