Great auto tuner that works with vintage Kenwood HF rigs as well as others
If you have a vintage Kenwood HF rig, particularly the TS430S, this unit is a no-brainer. Connect it to ground and power and get an 8-pin cable to connect the AT-250 to the TS430S and you are cooking with gas. The tuner will automatically shift bands as you change them on the tuner, and you can decide if you want the tuner to always tune whenever you key up, or if you want it to hold the last tune. In my experience, the AT-250 does a great job of tuning, bringing my random wire antenna 1.5 SWR in every case from 80-10 meters. With my manual tuner I was unable to get 80M less than a 5 SWR, yet the AT-250 does the trick every time. You can also use this tuner with other transceivers; you will just need to short pin 3 to ground and manually select the band you're working on the dial. By the way, if you purchase this unit and don't have the cable, there are people on eBay selling them; just look for an 8-pin "265 degree" male to male cable, straight through, and you will be good to go. I am extremely pleased with the performance of this tuner and can wholeheartedly recommend it to any ham who is looking to tune their 160M-10M antennas.
