Was having a look around to see if I could find dye to revive some black jeans, saw all the usual suspects and well known brands here in the UK but they are all so stingy. The amount of dye in a pack is barely enough for one pair of jeans and that makes the process not a huge amount more expensive but a lot longer and much more messy.
Jacquard was fantastic discovery, not only were they cheaper but the pack enabled me to do a truly amazing job on 2 pairs of jeans and an old black shirt in one load, all of which now look like new. There are simple instructions on the web for the ubiquitous front loading machines, (does anyone even make anything else any more) the process worked perfectly, there was no mess and the results were amazing.
I was so impressed I bought some more and did the same job on two much older pairs of black jeans. The results were once again fantastic.
I used this to dye a mixed batch of some 100% cotton & some slight cotton blends in conjunction with the idye poly. So my experience may not be relevant. But, although I used plenty of dye & followed methods exactly, even the 100% cotton came out at more of a washed out/ grey colour. If you're dying 100% cotton that's already quite dark in colour I think it'll be perfect. That being said I still liked the tone I got.
