Designed for fingertip control of individual DCC-compatible model trains, even when running on the same track, this Hornby R8213 mains transformer and 15 Volt digital controller features an easy-to-operate rotary dial and a large, clear LCD readout. Made of pressed steel and plastic, this DCC unit can also pinpoint and manage separate solenoid-operated accessories including points. The R8213 may be used hand-held or free-standing.

Excellent but limited
An excellent starter unit to begin using DCC but I have already moved on as the select has very limited powers to "tune" the chips. You could expand to the Elite and keep the select as a walkabout but the Elite is expensive. Overall good value and if you just want to use dcc out of the box it will serve you well.

Beginners controller.
This is ideal if you are dipping your toes into DCC model railways, it is quite basic and easy to learn but on complex track system you can lose track of which train is where. Overall I'd say it's good for beginners.
