  • Does what it needs to do.

The product definitely does what it says. The quality of the midas preamps is pretty good. For the price I would definitely recommend this if you are looking to add 8 inputs to your set-up. BE CAREFUL THOUGH. The analog inputs are not directly connected to the analog outputs (weird i know). Took me a week to figure out why my pro tools interface wasnt receiving analog signal but would receive digital signal when I connected ADAT. Went as far as contacting the seller of the pro tools interface saying the product may be faulty. Turns out, on this device, the analog in is connected to digital out, and the digital in is connected to the analog out (again, weird i know). So in order to use the analog outs you have to connect an ADAT cable from the device's digital out and route it right back in to its digital in. This drove me mad for a week no joke! So...be cautious when purchasing this. But like I said, works well for additional 8 inputs, just be aware of how its all connected.

  • 8 More Channels of I/O for a reasonable price.

Works well with our Focusrite Scarlett 18i. Connects with the ADAT fiber optic cable. Decent amount of gain in the preamps. They sound clean and work quite well for this price point. A decent option if you want to expand your I/O with 8 more channels of input.

  • Better than Expected

When I read "open box" or "demo" from a music store, even a reputable one, I think bubble wrap, cut to size box. This unit was in the factory packaging, at a ridiculously good deal, in excellent condition. I plugged it in and it performed flawlessly. If you need 8 extra pre amps or inputs down lightpipe, this is a decent solution. One cable into my Tascam 2020 and it showed up. I love it when technology performs the way it should.

  • Does the job, good value

My background: Old fart RF/Analog electrical engineer, 35 years. Musician (drums, guitar, vocals), part time sound tech. My hearing has a 3-4dB drop at around 2kHz - probably from all the unprotected loud venues I did during my earlier years. The 8200 incorporates what Behringer calls their "MIDAS" preamplifiers, which the earlier 8000 doesn't. I don't have access to an 8000 to compare sound quality to, but in a live environment where I do most of my mixes I doubt the subtle difference in white noise levels would be noticeable. That said, the new version is lighter, and is laid out well and gets the job done. Mine currently expands the inputs on a Presonus Audiobox using the ADAT out (optical link), which has no problem syncing up. The only con I can give is the physical robustness of the gain knobs - they move too much (laterally) compared to the knobs of the same size on of my other gear.

  • Great Device

love this device. Very clean. Straight forward design. I use it in conjunction with my saffire 56 via Adat lightpipe. summing through an dangerous 2 bus LT. Makes me want the Midas one with the other options. That one is almost a grand but well worth it.

  • Great for the price, A+

Was able to connect 2 of these to my RME UFX+ to expand the inputs and outputs with zero problems. Also did not need wordclock to sync. Just using the sync that travels in the optic cable and it works without issues. This unit has very low noise, so really recommend it especially for the price.

  • Great interface with FCA1616

I purchased this for use in combination with the Behringer FCA1616 and it works perfectly in conjunction with my Mac running ProTools 11.3 and for use with my iPad running Auria for live recording. This expands the number of live inputs to 16 and couldn't be easier to set up and run!

  • Good.

I use it as a adat preamp for my 18i20. Def good. And in value. Came a week than it was supposed too!
