Perhaps the best, for what it is
There are many things that are less than ideal about this keyboard, but at the end of the day, it has full-sized keys and it "feels" good under hand. It is a "synth action", so not weighted like a piano, but still a pleasing key action compared to everything else (that I have tried) in its class. It also works seamlessly with any iOS device that has a Lightning port. It runs off off of Lighting port power with no errors or issues, and unlike some of IK's later models, it doesn't need any separate batteries or power supply. It's about as simple to use as any MIDI keyboard can be. The bundled apps work well and sound good. There are many in-app purchases available, but it also works just fine with the included instruments. The MIDI velocity curves work perfectly with all of IK's offerings, although not so well with the Korg app. Very nice with Pure Piano, Synthesia and some others though, so maybe it is Korg that is "different". This controller comes with three cables, one each for iOS, Android, and real computer. I can verify that it works fine with a Windows PC, and as with iOS, it gets it's power via the USB bus, so there is no external power adapter or batteries to mess with. My only wish is that it had more keys. 37 keys are enough to play many songs with both hands, but there are just times when, say, 49 keys would be nice. And IK Multimedia does have a 49-key controller, but having bought one of those and subsequently returned it, I now know that it lacks the simple ability to function without batteries. Sure, it has those extra keys along with some other nice features, but it loses the simple pleasure and simplicity of this model. And in case anyone cares, I find IK Multimedia to be a weird company. I have never been completely happy with any support experience, and if one happens to need a replacement for one of those proprietary cables, they charge dearly for those. Still, having had half a dozen different brands and models, this is still my favorite.
