Classic AKG Headphone
One of three headphones in the 'Classic Trio' (Sennheiser HD600/650, Beyerdynamic DT880, AKG K701/702). It's the least popular of the three, but it's my favorite. I reach for the K701 more often than the Senns or the Beyers. Why? Because of the wide soundstage; listening to chamber music (like string quartets), orchestral music (like symphonies), or jazz is heavenly. Any music recorded with few microphones like those I mentioned is presented by the K701 with instruments placed where they belong, as though it were live, like you were there. Minor note: you may need to raise the low end from about 125hz. I equalize no other headphones I own. But don't let that stop you from trying them. Eqing the low end does little to no damage to the sound, since the human ear isn't very sensitive to nuances in the low frequencies. Get em. Try em with properly recorded acoustic music. I bet you like them. If not, you can always sell them for near what you originally paid if not the same price.
