Huge Fun In A Little Guitar

Any parlor guitar is really a specialty instrument, but for almost no money, this little Recording King definitely holds its own with a lot of other brand name parlor guitars costing 4-5 times more. I love the old fashioned look of it and it's perfect for a lot of the old 1920s blues songs I like to play. Unlike some other parlor guitars I tried, the Recording King can also be strummed without sounding like it's going to rattle into pieces. I have a Recording king 000 size guitar too and they represent probably 80% of what I grab most often. Great company making great products!!!

    Needs Work!

This guitar is as described as far as the appearance is concerned, but does not play "great" as described. The G string is dead from the third to the seventh fret, something a professional can fix, but at a cost equal to the price of the guitar!

  • Nice little git-box!

This is my 3rd RK Dirty Thirties guitar. It's got a nice vintage feel to it, not flashy or fancy and plays and sounds great, considering the low price. Tuner covers were a little poorly attached on one of the guitars, but constructed with decent materials for the most part.

  • Dirty 30s Parlor

I'm very impressed with this little guitar. Despite being parlor sized, it has a sweet sound and is more than loud enough for my at-home playing. While ithe tone and volume won't stand up to a Martin Dreadnought, it's still a blast to play. Recommended!

  • A fun little guitar. I needed something I could keep by my bed. Small size, sort of a midrange "honk". The fret ends are a bit rough. Good action.

  • Great Value, Good knock around guitar

I am an experienced player, having played guitar for over 30 years. I purchased this on a whim because I wanted a small body acoustic for "sofa playing" and quiet practice. Given the price and being a Chinese mass production, my expectations were pretty low. I have to say, this is a really good value instrument. Tone is good (for a parlor), action is acceptably low and playability high. It does not have a real quality feel to it, but it is functionally a good player. The components (bridge pins, tuners, nut and strap pin) are all pretty cheap, but again functional. I can say for a sub $150 guitar, this model Recording King is a very worthy buy.

  • A Great Surprise

I bought an Epiphone EL-00 to take camping and generally have a inexpensive knockabout ax... then it arrived and r realized I was mistaken on two levels - it sounds 10x better than the price would indicate, and it's just too new and shiny to set down by the campfire. So I gave the Epi another role in my guitar family and bought this little gutbucket wonder. The solid spruce top gives a nice volume, and although you certainly don't expect any true bass out of a $200 O / parlor size it actually has a very pleasing bluesy sound. The neck profile is ok, not anywhere near as pleasing as the EL-00 but tolerable and I may sand it down in back to narrow the profile later on. Overall, it's an ax that is always ready to go and brings a smile to my face. [50+ years player, guitars/bass/keys/pedal steel]

  • Nice parlor guitar!

Bought this for finger picking blues and it exceeds my expectations. Sounds great! Big sound from this little guitar. The matte finish looks really cool on this guitar too. All in all it was a great buy for me and suits my playing style perfectly. I recommend getting this if you want a light weight less expensive good sounding guitar. Bought mine used from allusedguitars and mine looks like new so very pleased.

  • Great look, tone, and feel in an inexpensive parlor guitar

I'd had my eye on this guitar ever since it was introduced, looking for a different sound. Picked it up used but like new at a fraction of retail and could not be more pleased. Amazing quality for the price. Can't wait to hear it restrung with Elixirs!
