    Fabulous for the price.

When you first open the box and a lot of very thin metal and wobbly boards fall out, you ask yourself if you've made a terrible mistake. Alas..Once assembled, these are remarkably strong and stable. I read reviews of them being wobbly but they are not. I'm certain that those people did not assemble them properly. Standing on a flat floor, they do not wobble at all. You WILL need a mallet to get these together. They knock together with tabs in slots and they're a tight fit. Which is what you want. Once they're driven in properly, they're very secure. (This is wear I think the bad reviews come from.) I bought four. The first one took me about 25 mins to work out and assemble. The next three went up in ten mins each. I am a mechanic though. I'm used to assembling things. The shelves are a composite board. I wouldn't put a full sized Motorcycle engine on them. But I would put smaller heavy parts on them. I can't imagine anyone breaking these shelves unless you're trying to store very small and heavy items that could overstress a certain section. If you got the boards wet, I would imagine they would lose their strength. At less than £20 for a set of freestanding shelves, I think they offer outstanding value. They also came in less than a week during NY lockdown. With Hermes.

Strong and good for the price.

It is good value. Instructions could be better I am 75 years old and I had to spend some time working out how to fit it together. I am a nut and bolt fan so I will look for one which uses these for my next purchase. It has to fastened to the wall or it is unstable.

  • my 5-year-old helped me build it!

Each part is very flexible, but when put together the right way it's really sturdy. The feet can be difficult to put on, depends on the batch. Hammer is good for that. And it can be quite difficult to get the tabs into the slats. But it's a very cool design, and can be reconfigured easily. The whole range is very hackable, and my 5-year-old helped me build it! I only wish I'd taken some photos during the build, for this review. There are front-to-back cross bars to support the shelf, and the tabs need to be pre-bent. I recommend a little past 90 degrees and then bend back as you need to, as then they'll flex away from the rest of the frame and it'll be easier to get your "standard screwdriver" behind the tab to bend it round. I also have a workbench made of this tech, and it's really great too.

  • LOOKS GOOD IN THE SHED

I found erecting this unit quite a battle as trying to clip all the metal parts together quite time consuming even though the answer is to use a screwdriver to open each slot. I would recommend finding a bright area to construct these units as they are in black and can be difficult to spot when each connection has been made correctly. I tried to complete this task in the shed and found it difficult to see properly so the remaining units were installing indoors where there was plenty of light and as they are not that heavy it was easy to transfer the units back to the shed later.

  • Good item lacking fitting instructions

Very good item , but the enclosed instructions are very poor. Only one sheet, that is photocopied in very poor quality showing only safety instructions and NOT a single word about how to put parts together. The copied diagrams are very small and very poor quality so you cannot see anything in the diagrams. It did take me a lot of time and attempts to work out how to fit parts together and I was lucky in the end. Good clear installation instructions with clear diagrams, will make huge difference as the shelves are very good quality.

  • So easy to assemble

This item was perfect. So easy to assemble. I managed all on my own and at 66 with severe arthritis. Would recommend it was so good and easy. I’m getting another one.

  • GREAT SHELVING UNITS AT A GOOD PRICE WELL WORTH IT

I bought one of these shelf units for the kitchen as had not cabinets under the worktop so ive used one for under the work top and another for a work bench in the kitchen to put my coffee machine on, they are very easy to put together and do take alot of weight, i was very happy with it so ordered another to use as the whole 5 shelves to store more heavy kitchen items on, you can easily cover the mdf boards with wallpaper or vinyl to make them look prettier I would say they are a good price and well worth buying , saved alot of money in the kitchen instead of kitchen cabinets, now have open shelves under the work top i may get another in the summer for the garden items to be stored on i would give these shelves 10/10

  • Good for the price

This is not industrial-grade steel shelving but, for the low cost, is good value. Does seem it would take the load stated in the description but with *minimal* materials used in the shelving's manufacture. Which I suppose is good the environment, but does make them prone to be able to lean/twist. The shelving is doing a good job in our garage and is more stable with some weight on the shelves.

  • Flat pack rack

This is the fourth rack of this type I have bought. Simple to erect and sturdy when completed.

  • Metal shelving unit

Although I have said yes in previous answers, it more of a maybe. The metal construction is good but the hardboard shelves are not strong enough. B&Q sell a similar unit same price with a lot stronger shelf. It also will not withstand 175kg per shelf. Maybe 175kg between all 5 shelves. However it’s good enough for me.
