    Fixed my shoes

I found this easy to use to fix the sole back onto a pair of trainer style golf shoes. It is necessary to clamp the pieces together thoroughly while it sets. I'm not giving it full marks yet, as only time will tell how long the repair lasts.

Instructions do not mention that two coats may be needed.

I bought this glue to repair my walking boots, where the lower sole had separated from the upper sole. I followed the instructions exactly, and after five minutes both coats of glue were totally dry. When I pressed the surfaces together, they did not stick at all. So I applied a second coat, and pressed the surfaces together when the glue was still slightly tacky. This time it worked, and after a week's use in wet and muddy conditions, the sole is still firmly stuck. I think the problem may have been that the upper sole was slightly absorbant, and needed the first coat to seal it. However, applying two coats used up all of the rather small tube, and i still had another boot to repair.

  • Easy to use, effective.

Previously I used Unibond Repair Extreme to reattach segments of rubber sole to a pair of aged trainers but they detached after 1-2 runs. It's still early days for this stuff so it hasn't earned its 5th star yet but the rubber is still attached there no sign of it about to peel off. I'll buy some more to fix up other shoes. You'll need a way to firmly press together and secure the areas to be bonded for it be be effective.

  • Pretty good stuff

This is probably the best glue you can get for repairing footwear, it has the adhesive strength of epoxy but is very flexible so it stays bonded during flexing. Far stronger than traditional contact adhesive and it is also transparent.

  • Read the instructions

Worked well to bond the soles back on my boots, both badly split at sides. Roughened the surfaces with sandpaper and cleaned with Methylated spirit, coated both surfaces and left 5 minutes till touch dry. Pushed together and the bond worked and then I used a few cable ties to exert pressure overnight. Only worn boots for two days in hot weather but no signs of de-lamination so far.

  • I glued where stitching had come undone ...

I glued where stitching had come undone on top of my boot. Cobbler hadn't thought it easy to repair. It stayed together on rough terrain. So far, so good. I found it messy so not a neat finish. But it's a walking boot, not a fashion item!

  • Rubber adhesive

As I have just received and used the product, I feel my opinions may be premature. However, the time taken from placement of the request to receipt was minimal and having used the product, I can say that at present the repair appears to be successful.

  • Shoe Glue

Bought it to repair my super-comfy old sandals where the rubber soles had separated from the rest of the sandal. Did a great job. Make sure you follow the instructions. Very pleased.

  • Basic glue

I was looking for the old fashioned shoe glue of the sort still used by hight Street shoes repairers. This turned out to be what is branded as Evostick in UK. However it did work gluing my felt/cork slippers back together, so no real complaints.

  • Didn't work for leather shoe / rubber sole repair

I attempted to use this product to reattach a rubber sole that had become detached from the leather upper. Nearly half the sole had come away, so this was a substantial repair. I sanded both the sole and the leather to key the surface. The instructions recommend clamping the join overnight - this obviously difficult on a curved shoe where such a large area has to be clamped. I clamped it as best I could and left it for 12 hours. On testing the repair, the sole came away immediately, so I cannot recommend the product.
