  • 1st class machine

Have a large mig with separate wire feed unit for heavy work. & have been using cheepie MIGs for exhausts & panel work. Tried this out for half an hour when first landed & then put old small mig in scrap metal pile. I run an independent garage & have been welding 28+ years. This is the best one by a mile - if you can't weld like a pro with this then stay away from any kind of welder !! If funds allow will be buying the largest available in single phase next year & selling off my large (top brand) welder.

  • Superb welder, great results

Don’t be deceived by the small size, this is an inverter welder so doesn’t have the bulk or weight of the old transformer units. It also produces much better welds all round. It looks to be very well built and uses very modern electronics, not like the 1st generation inverters that used cheap MOSFET transistors. The feed rollers are also very good quality and (unlike cheaper units) it also has the standard Euro fitting torch which means you can use your favourite welding torch, not that the supplied unit needs replacing, quite the opposite, it’s excellent. Having the Euro socket also means this unit can do scratch start TIG if that’s your thing. The final icing on the cake is the MMA stick welding function. This is super handy if you weld outside and it’s a bit windy. It’s also dead handy for large section steel, where MIG would just be a waste of gas. Very highly recommended, this replaces a Lincoln 3 phase unit I had and it’s all round a better welder. You can also carry it with one hand whereas rolling the Lincoln around was a pain, it was huge. This thing can be put in the boot of even the smallest car which makes welding just about anywhere really simple. If you need a more powerful unit the 250 amp one is very similar but this one is more than capable for all car based stuff, even on a 13 amp plug.

  • Suddenly an expert!

I was in real trouble learning to mig weld using an old Sealey Mightymig 150. I asked a friend who runs a garage, who had been trained as a fabricator. He tested my mig, and told me how limited it was, and I needed a better tool. At that moment a welding expert friend of his came in, and immediately told me to get an R-tech. He said they were the best available in my budget, and it would do what I wanted. Here I am, now in possession of this amazing tool, and overnight I feel 100% more confident welding the wings back onto my classic Lancia. It just does it, no fuss. Makes the right noises. Fine adjustments make Penetrates without holes. Tacks and seams effortlessly. Can't fault it. ~ Well done R-tech ~

  • A quality machine.

After selling off all of my old welder's, I decided I wanted to buy a decent mig welder. After a lot of research i ended up choosing the 180 amp r tech. I am delighted with it. From the moment it arrived i was impressed . I have used it on a couple of small jobs , and so far it has proved to be a good purchase. Well worth the money.

  • Leap of faith to a modern MiG, best decision ever !

I had my trusty Murex for over 20 years and I thought it welded good until it packed up and was too expensive a repair. I researched for weeks and came up with short list of usual brands of Murex, Lincoln, etc but this MIG came up top all the time. I decided I’d go for this for it’s fine power and feed control as I wanted it for car panel repairs plus a Warranty and UK Spares was useful. What can I say, 4 weeks on and its welds incredibly clean with Argoshield, very sensitive to feed and power settings and an overall superb machine. So glad I made this decision, wish I had done it much sooner and trusted in new modern technology and a reputable UK seller.

  • Updating from old boc 130 turbo mig 22yrs old and still going strong

Went for this as down to reviews and warranty, same as other £300 machine avail but no warranty with them, down side you pay an extra £35 +p&p for the stick cable which comes in the same box as machine bloody con there, other cheaper makes comes with it, no better QC control, I opened up machine as others said check insides, one new 8mm nut stuck in between components on circuit board and the back of the plastic euro plug a chunk broken off and loose in machine doesn't affect working it, the gas pipe comes with cheap made badly threaded brass connectors one split as trying to do up replaced with better one, digital clock for amps waste of time really as only shows while you're welding, fan is bloody noisy , not used stick side yet but mig side is better than old transformer mig for 0.75 mm car body repairs set on 0volts and 2.5 wire speed was good, a machine with 25 or even 20 amps would be nicer for thin panel work but 30amp seems the lowest for DIY budget machine, it gave good penetration and clean weld using 5% co2 argon mix , 0.6 wire , it will run fine on a 3pin plug for 99% of people using it for diy, If you were to be welding at 180amps then you 'may' have to go for blue 16amp plug ( like caravan ones) and a dedicated socket , l have blue to blue socket with 3pin plug for most diy work and can unplug blue plug with 3pin to plug into dedicated heavy blue extension cable when stick welding farm implements 5mm thick, hope review helps anyone.

  • R-Tec MIG180 Welder

I bought this off reviews I’d read on EBay. I wasn’t disappointed. What an absolute great piece of kit. The packaging was perhaps the best I’ve ever encountered and the contents even better. Everything inside oozes of quality. If your wondering what’s going wrong with your welding then it’s probably your welder. I’d been trying for months to get on with a cheaper machine and ripping my hair out. Using this machine my welds are excellent. It want me after all! Lovely company, couldn’t have been more helpful. Highly recommended.

  • R-tech MIG welder

Fantastic piece of kit don't know how I ever got on without it so easy to use smooth clean welds really good value for money really good piece of kit I should now be purchasing a plasma cutter from the same company because if it works as well as this it's got to be a bargain

  • Great piece of kit.

I knew what I was getting as my son has one the same and I had used it a couple of times. So far I've welded up the floor of my old truck for the M.O. T and made some garden art. I'm pleased and the wife is pleased with the new garden features, seems like I can do no wrong. Well worth the money. Wish I'd bought one sooner.

  • Superior for the price

My mig 180 arrived today and I've been testing it only so shortly but the quality is on point. It was packed so good I've never seen so smart packaging. The earth cable is long so that's a big plus. The welder itself is... well as much as i've tested it it's all good. Welded through zinc coating easily which is nice since the old transformer machines always struggled getting the arc through. Just take your time to find YOUR settings because the ones in a manual are just vague guidelines.
