Great wee machine with just a few niggles.

I've given this mixer a 4 star rating and, keeping in mind its low price it's pretty good value for the money. For what you pay you get a machine robust enough to keep a busy DIY builder on the go. It's good enough for me to keep up a days cement mixing filling patio block molds with ease. It was a tad irksome to assemble. Not difficult, just little nags like the bolts need a wiggle to get them through a few not-quite-lining-up holes. It's a split drum with a large rubber seal and I couldn't get it to stop leaking. It also leaked on the flange at the rear of the drum. I needed the machine urgently and, as I live in Ireland, it was less hassle for me to fix it myself than to return the thing. I took the drum apart and silicon sealed the gasket in place. I did the same with the rear flange. I also replaced the 6mm nuts and bolts on the drum for better quality. (The ones supplied had Phillips type bolt heads.) This made it 100% watertight. If it hadn't have been for the leaks I'd have given it a 5 star rating. It's also a good move to WD40 all the moving /rotating bits on the entire machine, including the handle and wheels. It makes a huge difference. It's a noisy wee fekker as well. I greased the gear train but it didn't make much difference noise wise. You'd struggle to keep a couple of good brickies going flat out but for small to medium DIY stuff you cant go wrong for the money.

    OK for DIY

Great value for money. Not particularly well packed, was left on its side (not following this way up instruction) which resulted in bent pins on electrical plug. Build quality ok. It was missing two screws and had extra bolts. None of the numbered bags matched enclosed diagram. Motor baseplate warped and difficult to align. Drum is excentric so makes quite a lot of grating nosie even when empty, Great for small batches of concrete or mortar. Poor design with switches on drum side of box as they get splashed. Was surprised with all that metal it was not earthed. It is not marked as double insulated, there is no rating plate and no certificate of electrical conformance. Would not recommend using without an ELCB

  • Overall good value for small jobs and medium use

Mixer is ok, very noisy. I find the blades are a bit of a bad design and stuff tends to stick in the back when it's only half full. Other than that it seems to be holding up great. Mixer about a wheel barrow full of compo at a time which is ideal for me and fits in the back of my estate easy. Not the most stable of things so don't go bashing it with a shovel. It was a pain having to assemble it but not complicated. Took me 30 mins as it doesn't come with a socket for the bolts and I had to use some pliers

  • Worth every penny.

I Wish That I had purchased one of these a long time ago. It's just the job for home use. If you bare this in mind, you are on a winner. It's robust, easy to assemble, and easy to use. Don't overload it, and clean it after you have finished. Mine has been outside in the recent Biblical rain we have endured and is still fine. I have mixed course concrete, mortar (so far about 2 Ton) and so far the drum paint is still intact. By personal choice I have applied some general grease to the drive gear as I think this can only help (my opinion). If you think you need one, just get it. I have ruined two drills mixing mortar over the years and they cost more than this 'each'.

  • A decent budget mixer

I purchased this as I have a lot of slabs to lay and relay in the garden and so decided it would help my back as I'm not getting any younger. As some mentioned the instructions for putting this together weren't great, however my 15 year old son was able to put it together in less than an hour with just a little help from me when he needed a second pair of hands. I have used the mixer for a day so far and it is much easier than my usual method of mixing by hand. Two tips that I found useful was to put the water in first before the dry contents. Secondly to empty the mixer into a trug as a wheelbarrow can't fit underneath. Did not find the mixer to be particularly noisy and it cleaned fairly easily when I was finished. Overall very pleased with the purchase.

  • A bit of a mixed review

Other reviewers have said putting the mixer together was a chore but my husband found it quite straightforward. The wheel to tip the drum has been changed to a bar but that isn’t a problem. The trouble he had was tensioning the belt but he sorted that out. Once that was done it was working fine until the drive key and bolt came loose and fell out, probably due to the heavy vibration of the rotating drum. He lifted the drum off to access the drive gear, re-fitted the drive key and replaced the bolt with an hexagonal bolt. Once done he was able to complete the job without any further problems and the mixer was then working fine. He also says that he wouldn’t attempt the stated capacity of 70 ltrs. Photos are of the drive gear showing the before and after replacing the bolt.

  • Great value

Assembly was very easy with the nuts and bolts in numbered bags. Used for the first time yesterday. Not the largest capacity but comfortably mixes a bucket of concrete at a time. A bit noisy when in operation but ran for whole day mixing a dozen buckets before I ran out of ingredients.

  • Does the job

I only need to mix around 18litres of mortar at a time and it does this well. Easy to pour and then easy to clean out. Its light weight makes it easy to manouver and store. Should have bought one years ago (if they existed then!)

  • Great little mixer for the money.

The mixer is excellent for the money and adequate for most DIY work. My only criticism is that the packaging was not good enough and the rime of the mixer barrel was dented in several places. The instructions are also not very good, the pictures do not align with the text and also the pictures show a different version of mixer to that delivered.

  • Good mixer

Works fine. Not as robust as more expensive mixers but for the DIYer, perfect. Lightweight to pick up and move about. There is definitely a knack to getting a good mix;- add water first always and other ingredients gradually and alternately and keep the drum as near horizontal as you can without mix falling out. Took a while to put together (hour and a half) as instructions are rubbish and it is a bit fiddly. Definitely good value though and I'm happy so far.
