You get what you pay for but best value in its price range
The machine itself is of the same basic design as several other 3 in 12 machines. It was the cheapest on eBay which probably tells something of the quality. Packaging was good, arriving protected in the usual plywood crate. The castings were reasonable, the bolts are 8.8 and for the most part it was of reasonable quality. The machine I bought was not sold as a second, it was not listed as faulty, It was sold as new and presumed to be in good working order. Now for the not so good part. The steel sleeve bearings on the main rollers were full of casting residue, this was not unexpected, anyone buying the lower end machines from China must know that they need to be stripped and cleaned before use. However, The accuracy of holes drilled and tapped in the casting was very poor, so much so that the M8 8.8 bolts and lock nuts to hold the sliding guillotine bar to the main frame had been replaced with inadequate M6 nuts and bolts because their tapped holes did not align with the slots in the moving bar. This required several hours to sort out before the machine would function. Even when the proper M8 bolts had been fitted, the slots needed extending before the rollers would fully rotate. And finally, the front roller which is supposed to be removable could not be removed without dismantling the main frame. It required gringing of the casting to enable the roller to be removed and replaced as it was designed to be. Having spent 5 hours sorting it out, the machine does what it supposed to do. So, if you want a cheap machine and have the time to fix it, its a good buy. You may be lucky and get a machine that doesn't require work, but even if it does, its not the end of the world. Check it out as soon as it arrives to make sure any faults are fixable ( some may not be ) and talk to the supplier. And finally, there is another type of machine variously listed as a 2 in 1 machine, a brake and shear, mini shear brake combination etc. Besides the extra functionality, this 3 in 1 machine uses a proper cam arrangment to transfer the force, whereas the 2 in 1 machine has a couple of lever dogs that are prone to break, come loose etc. The price is not that different, and despite its shortcomings, this 3 in 1 machine is streets ahead in terms of strength, usability and by my reckoning, longevity. That is why despite a frustrating few hours getting it up to scratch, I would wholeheartedly recommend it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
