    Treated Light brown fence panels

I've used both of the light & the dark fence treatment of this brand..I much rather prefer the light Brown. Am very happy,a bit expensive, but you get a good coat overall

  • Most critical review

    Rather disappointing

The product is easy to apply and if the surface had no previous treatment, it would, no doubt, have taken well to the surface. Unfortunately, the shed I was covering did have a previous, if very old treatment of a reddish brown shed 'paint'that inhibited the Bartolene from soaking in. Had I been aware of this issue before purchase I would, naturally, chosen another product.

  • Easy to apply and great penetration

The product arrived quickly and was well wrapped/sealed against leakage. It was easy to apply by brush and penetrated the wood quickly. I was able to apply two coats in one afternoon and the result was an even colour. It rained after the first coat and immediately the water repellent nature of the treatment was apparent. I would strongly recommend it and providing precautions are still taken to avoid splashing on plants and hands it is an excellent creosote substitute.

  • Does what it says on the Tub

Excellent Product that is easy to apply via Paint Brush it covers well. 2 Coats provide an excellent finish that looks good and protects well.

  • It actually does what the others claim to do on the tin…

Treat your fence, shed, summerhouse etc just once… Water-based treatments last a couple of years max. This oil-based treatment actually soaks into the wood and preserves it for a “lifetime”. So saves you the time many coats of water-based treatment would take. What about the planet ? I hear you say. Because this treatment is a one-off job it uses fewer resources over a lifetime. It actually does what the others claim to do on the tin…

  • good wood protection, but go careful applying it, don't splash it about!

it is good protection for the wood, but take care applying, as it is very oily and smells of course like creosote! till it dries, but if you get it on pretty well anything, well, you don't really want to, BUT , like I said, it does the job of wood protection, I got the dark brown, it does look smart on my old home made gate! :)

  • Good old fashioned treatment you can rely on

I used this because you can't get creosote any more, can't tell the difference it goes on fine and searches into the timber, hopefully my shed will stay around for another 30 years with regular treatment. Much better than this watery rubbish you buy at DIY shops. Was e pensive but that's what I want, after the lock down I will search for some cheaper in local shops so that I have some in stock before they ban this.

  • Comparison.

Comparing this product (Substitute rather than Brand) to original old fashioned Creosote which I had used for years brought me to the conclusion that it seems to do the job just as well but without the heavy fumes. Time will tell if it's protection lasts as long.

  • Time will tell

Only the test of time will prove whether it’s a quality product or not & good value for money. My initial gut feeling is that it will probably be superior to many of the multi coloured variants out there. It certainly has a very strong, oily aroma so to use the analogy taking a dose of foul tasting medicine, ‘ it has to be good for you if it tastes awfull’,
