Easy to program and good solid radio.
Good coverage receiving analog transmissions. Sometimes when receiving P25 Phase 2 transmissions they break up. My SO is still on an analog trunking system and hear them clearly. Local town is on P25 Phase 2 trunking and some times the audio breaks up. The radio is easy to program using the PC software. Scanner seems to be well built. There are better and upto date models out there.
you can no longer update, the scanner with the computer because the links are not there, supposedly the plant got hit by a tornado about 5 years ago, and ever since they say oh we will be back up in a couple weeks, well they been saying that for a few years now. so the only way to program this is to use the data base that came with the scanner, but I am assuming its fairly old, or program it by hand, which is very complicated.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

looked and looked and read info. on this item
I have done my homework on this item . compared scanner manuals and all the info, I could come up with . I was burned by another named brand scanner that I wont mention , they didn't lie , they just didn't tell the whole truth . Do not be scared of this scanner with all that it does , it is top quality and a very good EZ scan program. Buy it , read the manual and stop and think about , you can set this scanner up and be running in 20 to 30 minutes or shorter , use the zip code info . till you read more and more of the manual , I have went into the EZ scan program and read parts of the manual till I am becoming very comfortable with this scanner , if you mess up , so what , this is what learning if about .. the TRX 2 is the best thing going out there , I have had mind for 3 days and thinking of buying the TRX 1 to take with me as I am driving ( with crime the way it is , I can carry it on my belt and not have to mount my TRX 2 in the auto. ) I want to mention that the TRX 2 has a very good sounding speaker and you can understand what is being said , I am not to good at reviews nor at spelling , but I do want you to get the message .. thanks and good scanning ...PS, others say money back guarantee BUT , watch out for the shipping and the restocking fee ! Learning curve, but very capable unit.
There is a learning curve if you want to customize the scan list. That said, program by zip code works very well. I have it paired with an external Max-Tenna also purchased from eBay.

Easy to Program and Does it All
While I am an Extra Class ham radio opperator, I have only recently delved into the world of scanners. My first scanner was the Whistler WS 1065. While it is a good scanner, it did not allow me to hear the NXDN transmissions of my local munisipality, DMR transmissions, nor P-25 Phase 2. I kept the WS 1065 but purchased the TRX-2 to fill in those gaps. It is expensive! However, that is my only complaint to date. This scanner was easy for me to understand and program. I highly recomend it... but you should plan on an outside antenna if you live where you can have one. You'll get much better results!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
