Keeps battery tip top when not being used
I am so impressed with this little charger - left plugged in for long periods and just keeps battery fully charged - the initial charge to full took about 4 days but it is only a very low charge trickle charger and is not harming the battery. If you have a vehicle that sits in the garage for long periods - it is perfect. Led light shows exactly what stage the charge cycle is at - Solid Red Charging, Flashing Green past 80% and solid green means it’s just maintaining charge as and when required. Cable to charging point VERY SHORT !
Great price, item looked like a good basic trickle charger but as I checked it out I found that the cable from charger to charging point was VERY SHORT indeed.....so short that it does not reach beyond the vehicle wing, you would need to fit an extension lead from half way down the car wing to even a power point near there.....to me, this renders this trickle charger useless for use with an installed car battery.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Maypole trickle charger.
I'm very pleased and impressed with this great little charger for the price because it does what other more expensive chargers do. It's a nice compact size and has ample cable length also good quality lug clamps. I bought it particularly for charging my scooter battery which is an AGM so I needed something compatible to avoid damaging it because as far as I know it shouldn't be charged with anything higher than 1 amp. So having said all I would definitely recommend this product to anyone like me who doesn't run their vehicle during the winter months.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I purchased eight of these charges a couple of months ago to put classic cars that are only run infrequently and would recommend them, as they both charge the battery and then keep it topped up, to run the car alarm system, ECU's, etc. so the car is ready to start after it has been laid up for a while. Simple and efficient, very good quality and value
This is a simple plug and play trickle charger/monitor. Just connect up the leads via the good quality crocodile clips, switch on and it does the rest. No messing about with excessive amounts of leads, this just plugs straight into a wall outlet or trailing socket/extension lead. You can leave it connected for weeks or months without fear of it overcharging and ruining your battery, as the monitoring circuit cuts off the charge, only applying a top up trickle charge as needed.You can see what it's doing via the led indicator lights. However, it is not really designed to charge a completely flat battery. Maypole is decent quality kit and have been in the business for a long time. I bought one and was so impressed, I bought another, as I have several batteries needing care over the winter. Small and nice
Had my doubts, but I was proven wrong. If you got a motorhome laid up for the winter, with access to main electric, then this is for you. I didn't want to ruin my new Bosh battery by being laid up for 3/4 months so I bought this, it works has kept my battery at 13.4 volts for 2 months now with no problems, even with parasite loads being drawn from engine source, i.e. clock, ECU, and radio it still maintains 13.4 volts as new condition, normally it would be down after 2 months to around 12 or less volts. Like I said it works, spins the engine from cold very very quickly. Please remember it will not charge a dead battery, and tops up the battery very very slowly, over 2/4 days, will not harm your battery if left conected all through the winter months. If you have permanent live to your cigarette lighter, you can backfeed through it, won't work if you have to turn on the ignition for the lighter to work. It stays connected to the battery does its maintenance thing, and is quite compact and easy to keep out of the way. I recently bought a second one to keep my wife's car battery topped up as she leaves it unused for long periods and the battery runs down due to the alarm. Feels like a quality product
This unit has the feel of a quality product, but only just put into service so not able to comment on the long term performance. The unit performed the initial check and cycled through the phases of charging/maintenance as described in the instructions. Does the job
I have purchased 2 of these. First for my ride on lawnmower, which is laid up for winter, and a second for our motorhome which also doesn't move much in Winter. The indicators show the present state of the battery. My motorhome shows a constant battery voltage of 12.8 volts once the charge rate has stabilised (takes about a day).
