A Good Investment for Expensive Equipment
I know there's a lot of debate about the effectiveness of products such as this one and I cannot personally speak to that. What I can say is, in my area we see a fair amount of thunder storms and accompanying power outages. I've lost some other items due to storms but have never lost anything connected to my Panamax M5300. As alluded above, I do wonder if the claims of improved picture quality, etc. are true but as a basic power conditioner and surge protection unit the Panamax delivers. Audio & Videophiles - Equipement Protection and Satisfaction at a great price.
It was time to replace a 20yr old Power Wedge that protected my hefty investment in my Hi-End Audio and Video equipment. I did my homework and still took a chance with the 5300-PM. Once installed and turned on, I have never looked back ! This is an exceptional addition to any audio and/or video equipment person that wants the best protection and improved performance from their system(s) . I also like the front outlet, internet port , and USB port for when I want to demo a piece of equipment or fire up an X-Box or Playstation without having to re-wire the whole place ! The only downside(?) is the LAN jacks are only 10/100 baseT since we're in a Gigabit ( 1000 baseT ) world now, but I am pretty confident the interior circuitry is already in place to protect. A fine unit
I purchased mine used, in terrific condition and everything on it works as it should. I haven't had any opportunity to find out how well it works against huge power spikes or the like but, that's just fine with me. As in the past, I can live comfortably without experiencing them. No hum was developed due to shipping (as it seems has happened to others?) nor over the month the unit has been in use. The power display correlates well with the Panamax MR4300, purchased new, that is on a different part of the HT. All in all I'm very pleased with both of my Panamax power control/protectors.

Panamax power conditioner/surgery protector
I can't speak to the line conditioning abilities of this device and others on the market like it. But if you have a home theater setup or other electronic devices, this is a must have item. It will protect all of your devices from an assortment of electrical shenanigans. I've been blessed to never have my home struck by lightning, but I have a few friends that have. Everyone of them that had their devices connected to a Panamax or similar equipment suffered no losses from electrical damage. Granted, the Panamax died but nothing else connected did. These are one of the best investments you can make to protect your valuable equipment.
