Built with attention to detail and audio craftsmanship, they transform your computer (Mac/Apple or otherwise) into a Hi-Fi sound system, using technology taken from some of the best-sounding studio speakers in the world. To match the most stylish of desktop environments, they look great too. All Hi-Fi speakers have a sweet spot – the area in the listening space where the music sounds best. The MM-1 is designed with the sweet spot just a few feet away from your computer screen, so with these speakers you always get great results and feel like you’re right in the middle of the action, whether you are listening to music or streaming movies. With an aux line-in socket feature, the speakers are versatile and ready for use with a wide variety of multimedia input from your computer. These MM-1 speaker set is made up of two high quality desktop speakers, with no extra subwoofer. Each speaker has an integrated 3-inch woofer and an internal 1-inch tube-loaded tweeter that is crafted from durable aluminum. The cloth-covered face of each speaker is done in elegant black and a brushed-aluminum band shimmers in silver tones around the three remaining sides. The top area of each MM-1 speaker is also finished in stunning brushed aluminum. The unit that is designed to rest on the right side of your computer monitor has a volume knob and an 18 watt class D amplifier built into each driver, giving you a total of four. The left speaker features a power switch so you can turn the set on or off according to your needs. The knobs barely show because they are hidden in the band that frames the speakers to create a subtle, modern look. You can plug headphones or audio accessories like your MP3 player, an iPhone, or an iPod into the right speaker. The MM-1 can audio produce audio directly from a USB. The Bowers Wilkins MM-1 can play uncommonly loud, and to prevent you from inadvertently overdriving either the speakers into fuzz, or the amps into clipping, there is a definite built-in volume ceiling, though it goes barely noticed. These speakers have integrated technology called a digital to analog converter, or DAC, that lets them make even low-quality audio sources sound crisp and bright. That means, even if your computer doesn't deliver the audio quality you want, you can still enjoy great sound quality when listening to your favorite music or watching videos. A remote control option lets you control the power to the speakers, mute them, or adjust the volume if you happen to be across the room. These B & W speakers have two drivers, one for bass and the other for treble, so the blending of sound far surpasses speakers with only one driver. With an aux line-in socket feature, the speakers are versatile and ready for a wide variety of multimedia sound input from your computer. Not worth it
I bought these speakers to replace by decade or more old Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers that had stopped functioning correctly. I asked around and this was the only recommendation I could find but no one had them to audition. I read some online reviews and watched some youtube videos and saw that the MM-1 was generally preferred to Bose speakers even though they didn't have a subwoofer. I hesitantly ordered them and was immediately disappointed. While their upper end was detailed, they lacked the low end I've become so accustomed to. Given their price, I was extremely disappointed and returned them after about 5 minutes of listening. I ended up ordering another set of Klipsch PorMedia 2.1 speakers for a substantially lower cost and am very pleased with them. Best PC speakers available
Actually it is what I expected but my expectations were high. I have owned 4 pairs of B&W speakers from N804s down to these. The finest speakers made in my opinion.
