The Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel motherboard gives your gaming computer the capacity to run high-resource software while providing all the function needed for day-to-day use. The Z68’s gold-plated capacitors increase the motherboard’s lifecycle to two and a half times longer than boards with non-plated ceramic and tantalum capacitors. You can install up to two SLI-Ready nVidia graphics processing units (GPU) or AMD Quad CrossFireX or CrossFireX GPUs in the Z68 Extreme3. ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 motherboards feature Lucid Virtue, which supports the Intel Z68 chipset’s universal switchable graphics technology. Universal switchable graphics technology, also known as a hybrid graphics system, allows the CPU to switch between the chipset’s integrated HD graphics processor and the board’s installed graphics cards as needed according to an application’s requirements. When executing low-resource tasks, such as Web browsing, Lucid Virtue directs graphics processing to the Intel CPU HD graphics processor, and when executing high-resource tasks, like 3-D gaming, Lucid Virtue directs the graphics processing to the installed nVidia or AMD GPUs. You can use regular hard disk drives (HDD), hard disk solid state drives (SSD+HHD), and solid state hybrid drives (SSHD) with the ASRock Z68 Extreme3 motherboard, thanks to the Z68’s Intel Smart Response Technology. SSHD and SSD+HHD drives combine the speed and economy of space provided by SSD and the mechanical aspects of hard-drive technology for high-capacity, low-cost data storage. The ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 motherboard has six mass-memory device connectors: four 7-pin SATA-600 (with RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10, and RAID 5 support), two 7-pin SATA-600, two 7-pin Serial ATA, and one SATA-600 7-pin external SATA. XFAST USB, XFAST LAN AMD, Steady Video, and XFAST RAM give the ASRock Z68 Extreme3 motherboard high-performance multimedia support. XFAST RAM increases system performance by creating a virtual disk from system memory that functions similar to a cache. When using Photoshop, for example, the ASRock Z68 Extreme3 stores the functions and data you use most often in a memory buffer to minimize retrieval times, resulting in five times faster execution speed. AMD Steady Video gets rid of shakiness and jitter in videos automatically, and XFAST USB accelerates USB data-transfer rates by 500 percent. FAST LAN minimizes gaming lag time latency when playing online allowing for up to five times faster processing. Additional features include Intel SmartResponse, ASRock’s Graphical UEFI BIOS interface, ON/OFF Play technology, and the ASRock motherboard dehumidifier function. You can add up to 32 GB of RAM to the ASRock Z68 Extreme3 motherboard via four DIMM 240-pin slots. Expansion slots include two PCIe 3.0 x16, two PCIe 2.0 x1, and two PCI. The input-output panel ports include four USB 2.0, two USB 3.0, one D-Sub, one DVI-D, one SPDIF out, one HDMI, one RJ-45 LAN with LED, one CMOS with LED and video and audio ports (line-in, rear speaker, central, bass, front speaker, microphone).
