strong compact effective affordable emergency aid

Easy to use but not strong enough
I got the bar out and it was very easy to set up. The car towed was around 1500kg so a heavy car but still under the 2 ton limit. Only had a 2.6 mile journey to tow car and we never got over 15mph as bar says that's the top speed, everything went well until we got to the end of the journey. The bar was badly bent in the middle and the hook eye part that hooks on to your tow eye was very badly bent, so it clearly can't handle 2 tons!. It's a cheap bar and got what I needed it to do JUST, I would use with caution if you want to buy this bar.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

You get what you pay for.
I was towing a Ford Fiesta with a BMW 328. I'd be reluctant to tow anything larger than that. This bar will not fill you with any confidence but it's ok if your travelling a short distance and not towing anything too heavy or going much faster than 15mph. DO NOT use it on a motorway, it's totally unsuitable, unless your doing 15mph. You get what you pay for. One reviewer said "Everything went well until we got to the end of the journey. The bar was badly bent in the middle and the hook eye part that hooks on to your tow eye was very badly bent" This also happened to me but the hook eye was not screwed in to my car fully plus we turned at some extreme angles so for a straight steel bar this may not have helped.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Well made. Looks strong, well able to do the job its made for. only problem for me it has a modern towing eye (screws into car front panel) attachment at each end. On the pull
The product arrived promptly. The pole is in 3 parts that easily fit inside the provided red bag with On Tow on it. They join together by aligning holes, inserting a pin, then inserting a retaing clip through a hole in the pin. The pin and retaining clip are attached tto the pole by a small, but strong, chain, so they do not get lost. The pin and clip concept is used to position the security bar at each end of the pole that the user moves into place to stop the end hook coming out of the towing eye on each vehicle. I haven't had cause to use it yet; but I imagine positioning the vehicles exactly the right distance apart to allow assembly and fitting the pole to them might be an art. Maybe a practice, somewhere safe, would be a good idea. Assembled it is quite heavy.. it certainly looks and feels like it is up to the job of towing vehicles up to 2 tonne. To me it is safer than a tow rope in that it keeps the vehicles a "fixed" dustance apart and is less likely to break.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
