With dimensions of 92.5 cm (36.4 inches) high, 66 cm (26 inches) wide, and 27 cm (10.6 inches) deep, the Quad ESL-63 speakers will not easily fit into a small room or office, but given the space they deserve, these stereo speakers will bring levels of clarity and detail to recordings that will delight the listener. The Quad ESL-63 stereo speakers are designed to show off the sound of the recordings rather than be true high-fidelity speakers. This means the Quad ESL-63 speakers will sound great when playing treasured vinyl classical music recordings, but they are not designed to play modern dance music. Each of the Quad ESL-63 main speakers has a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms and a sensitivity of 86 dB referenced at 2.8 volts at 1 metre. The Quad ESL-63 speakers have internal overload protection which limits their outputs to 30 volts RMS. This means that an amplifier of more than 100 watts is really not needed. When the internal protection of these Quad ESL-63 main speakers activates, it actually shorts the output of the amplifier, so care must be used if high volumes are required.Product Identifiers

A needful update for your older ESL 63
As the subject suggests, this is something you will need as the older protection circuits are less secure and suffer larger risk of failure due to the fact that it has to take care of all of the power from the amp instead of getting relief from the needed diode bridge. Audiophile quality carefully restored to new condition
QUAD 63's are a stable electronics design capable of restoration to 'as new' quality. Newer equivalent quality units are 3 times the price with less maintainable components. Stands for Quad 63 ESL Speaker
Lifting the quads off the floor allows the speakers image to deepen the soundstage, i recommend it. The stands are well made.
