Now, this may be because my skin is oily but I always clean my skin thoroughly before applying a good primer, then makeup, then a setting spray. I decided to up the protection against sun damage so I bought this to try rather than a non-SPF makeup setting spray. Did research & discovered this. Heard many positive reviews. Maybe, it works for them bc their skin type is different from mine...Regardless, sadly for me, as soon as I had completed my makeup & sprayed this very lightly on my face & neck, the greasiness caused my waterproof mascara to run & my makeup took on a sheen that was exactly opposite of matte & setting. It did not set but in fact caused it to look greasy & runny....because it was. I waited 10 minutes hoping it just needed time to dry. It didn't. It had the consistency of Pam cooking spray. My mascara continued to run & bc my makeup was shiny & greasy, it was ruined. I washed it all off & had to reapply. I'll keep this bc I bought 2 & it's pocket size. I could use it as regular sunscreen when out doors doing activities that require not hefting around a full size bottle of sunscreen. But never again will I use this for setting makeup.
Every time I've tried a SPF setting spray they are greasy and gross they just end up feeling like those aerosol spray greasy body sunscreens you get at the drug store.
I have this fantasy about a setting spray to use over makeup that is mattifying and just goes on like a regular setting spray. Like if I sprayed urban decay setting spray on one side of my face and then a spf setting spray on the other, I wouldn't know the difference.
Well.....I had hope. I had hope because of the "matte" title and good brand. As you can guess...it's just like the others. Strangely matte looking, until you touch it. But just like spraying stinky cooking spray on your face.
I wanted it to work so bad! Maybe some day my dream will come true. Maybe they will developed a water soluble sunscreen that works and can be a real setting spray. But provide spf. Not today!
If you want a spray on mineral sunscreen for use at the beach when you don't care what you look or feel like, this is fine, but go in understanding what you're getting.
