Great sound system
This is good sound system with many features. The golf ball size surround still remains a good innovation till date. Having said that it is obvious that Sony made the remote control system complicated on purpose as to make customers spend money on accessories by integrating it with the centre speaker rather than simply making it inbuilt like other active unit. On this note if u loose the centre speaker your remote won't function. 2ndly the s-air as an accessory is ridiculously expensive even almost 10years when the system when was launched. Apart from this 2 observation it's a great sound system with many features.Verified purchase: Yes

The Sony HT-IS100 Home Theatre System is small in size but big in performance
Two reasons made me choose this minuscule system for my lounge. Firstly my wife didn't want huge speakers all around the room and secondly the reviews I'd read where promising. I unpacked the system and immediately was gobsmacked by the size of the 5 speakers. They are tiny, and have the footprint of a (square!!) golf ball. But they are also weighty and have the feel of quality. You do think that there is no way these will produce any kind of room filling sound though.....but how wrong you would be! The subwoofer which is also the heart of the system housing also the amplifier and all speaker/HDMI connections is a tall narrow unit with a high gloss black finish. It has a downwards firing woofer and also an upward firing speaker which handles the midrange sounds. Connection is simple as all the speakers are colour coded so just plug the blue speaker cable into the blue speaker socket etc. Plug in your HDMI cables from your sources (Sky, Blu Ray player, games console etc) and then one HDMI goes out to your screen. If you're lucky you'll also have the calibration microphone included which sets up all the speaker levels automatically for you. The only downside of the subwoofer is that the display is on the top, as opposed to the side so it is very difficult to see when you are sitting down. The 'eye' for the remote is on the base of the centre speaker so is easy to control. Choosing the audio and running a dolby digital 5.1 soundtrack through the system once calibrated is amazing. It defies belief when you hear the huge sound coming from apparently nowhere. Turn it up and it just gets better. Filling a decent sized room with full bodied surround sound. It may not have the finesse of a full sized speaker/amp system, but it produces sound far better than you have any right to expect from it's size. If you want good surround sound but cannot or don't want to accommodate large speakers in your room, then this is a very good solution. Highly Recommended.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Excellent system far better than you’d think
Easy to set up, sounds great. Surprisingly loud. Needs a certain room layout as the sub has to be near the main speakers not hidden behind anything so won’t suit everyone.
