About this product

Product Information

This is the definitive lightweight, compact telephoto macro zoom with a maximum magnification ratio of 1: 2 at the 300mm setting - ideal for shooting subjects that are difficult to approach such as sporting and theatrical events. The lens also features special effects such as the capability to provide beautifully blurred backgrounds to highlight the main subject in portraiture, or "compression effects" that make the most of the telephoto lens. By switching to macro mode, subjects as close as 0.95m can be shot within the focal range of 180-300mm, for true macro photography. The optical system incorporates a LD (Low Dispersion) lens, resulting in clear sharp images free of chromatic aberration.

Great value lens for the next step in photography

Bought this lens for our Nikon 5300 as we were going on safari and wanted closer pictures of the animals. After some searching online this seemed like the best product for the job at a reasonable price. We are amateurs and just enjoy taking the photos on auto mode mainly. This has been a great addition to the camera and we took some fantastic photographs. Clear image and quick to auto focus unlike so other reviewers we did not find it too noisy or blurred. Glad we purchased this lens!

    Poor lens

Looking forward to using this lens with my Nikon 5300. Regrettably auto focus absolutely rubbish and manual focus just as bad. Very disappointed with it. Will try again before sticking it in a charity bag. Total waste of money.

  • Great Lens for the money.

I was a little bit concerned having owned some high end gear, but this lens is an absolute pleasure. It's light which means it gets used, image quality and focussing are more than adequate. A tip when attaching and removing lens hood, switch to manual focus, extend zoom and hold lens barrel to avoid strain on autofocus mechanism. Great buy, although not truly a macro 1:2 ratio is great with the 300mm end allowing some great shots of wildlife at just under a metre distance.
