Good little phone

Does the job
This phone has a reasonably good camera, a removable battery, so I could in theory buy a spare, or, if a real power cycle reset was needed, remove it for a few seconds. It also has a memory card socket, which I will buy a card for at some point - I dropped my first smart phone and all my holiday snaps got lost when the electronics died. The camera is reasonable, though takes a second longer than I would like to take pictures and makes a mildly annoying shutter noise. I haven't found any way to turn that off yet. It will probably not run the latest games or apps very well, but I don't use it for that. The case is plasticy, and the back cover is wafer thin; it seems amazing that it keeps the battery in at all. It is also a little fiddly to clip down when fitting. However, it hasn't caused any problems. One other plastic-related niggle: the charger dummy earth pin had moulding burrs and was hard to plug into a socket at first. It got easier later. If it hadn't then I would have smoothed them down. The display is reasonably bright but I expect really bright sunlight will overwhelm it, like any LCD. It does have an FM radio that works OK, however, the earpieces need to be plugged in for this function because the leads are used as an aerial. As a brand new phone for less than £100 it is decent value. Having dropped my previous phone, I bought a glass screen protector and a gel outer case. These make it heavier and bulkier, but this sort of accessory are readily available for this model of phone and the ones I bought fitted well.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Fine for light users
This Samsung Galaxy S2 suits my needs. I am a very light user, I do not use it to access the Internet and I make very few calls and texts. Heavy users should choose a phone with a bigger battery capacity as I don't think it would last very long if used to download films or videos. This is a phone that covers more than the basics. Android 4.3 does not have the intrusion of unwanted downloads that use your data. Hackers have gone past this version. For this reason it tends to be more secure. The personal assistant does get in the way at times. Battery life is not good on standard battery. I reccomend the all day battery that has the extended back. The phone is a bit bigger, but it does last all day. An alternative is an external power bank. Ring tone volume is not that loud. Unsuitable for me
It was a used item. Well used. So the rear panel was very loose, and possibly didn’t match the case , or when new would a black case have a white back panel? Although it was ok for making calls and texting, it wouldn’t access the internet at all, and I could not WhatsApp so it was unsuitable for my needs. Maybe my expectations were too great. Useful smartphone
Although the battery was acceptable, I purchased a further battery with longer life. All in all the 'phone is very useful, and even more with the use of the augmented battery.
