This external amplifier works for both stereo and surround sound. You can easily switch it to mono and bridge it to double the power-handling ability. For a budget amp, this unit puts out a clean, airy sound with very little distortion. The volume control is positioned right in the front, giving you easily accessible control. Your audio will cut through nicely with the NAD 2400 THX Monitor Series amplifier. Each stage is decoupled from the power supply so that you'll get no supply modulation distortion. When the amplifier is in the high-current output stage, it can deliver peak currents as great as 40 amperes. This function controls voice-coil motion for quality performance. This unit's frequency response range is 3 Hz to 100 kHz, so it eliminates the effects that can cause harshness or tension in the high tones. In fact, its rated distortion percentage, with specifications of THD 20Hz to 20kHz, is 0.03. The maximum continuous clipping power for each channel in this device is 130 watts. NAD's notorious soft-clipping option allows you to put a limit on the output so that distortion will be minimal if the 2400THX ever gets over-driven by too much volume. You can simply flip the switch to ON and leave it there at all times unless you're unwilling to sacrifice the dynamics. NAD 2400 amplifiers have plenty of headroom whether in stereo or bridged mode. In the power amp sections, they have 5.7 dB of IHF dynamic headroom at 8 ohms. By bridging them, you can get 6 dB of headroom for your electronics. You can put a lot of demand on these amps without affecting the quality of your audio. The signal-to-noise ratio for each 2400 model is 98 dB or 118 dB when you set it to bridge mode. For extra power, you can run two NAD amplifiers together in your system or use one with a top-quality receiver. You won't have any trouble finding a spot on your shelf for a NAD 2400 two-channel unit. Its measurements are 435 by 127 by 385 millimeters. The entire apparatus weighs about 22 pounds. For the best results, place every piece of audio equipment in a strategic location.
