Red Dead Redemption is an open-world adventure game, set in the Wild West at the beginning of the 20th century. A well-defined main character and a strong narrative provide the structure for mission-based progression through the adventure, but the sandbox-style game world allows players to explore and interact as they wish, moving from town to town through the harsh wilderness on horseback, by stagecoach, or on a train. Throughout their travels, players can hunt and skin wild animals, gamble, capture bounties, engage in duels, search for treasure, and help those in need. The game is built on the same Rockstar software engine that runs Grand Theft Auto IV, and the user-directed action-adventure playing style is similar to that of GTA4 as well, although the setting is very different. More of a successor than a direct sequel to 2004's Red Dead Revolver, Redemption puts players in control of a former outlaw looking to make good. John Marston is on a mission to bring an old ally to justice, and perhaps to bring a little law and order to the outposts and boomtowns he passes through along the way. Marston once rode with a gang of outlaws who robbed trains, held folks for ransom, and killed nearly anyone who got in their way, to take whatever they wanted. Now, as part of a bargain to protect his own family back home, he must use his violent skill set to apprehend or gun down a former partner called Bill Williamson - a bandit at least as ruthless and deadly as Marston ever was. The "Game of the Year" edition includes the full original game, the zombie-themed Undead Nightmare Collection, the "Legends and Killers" and "Liars and Cheats" multiplayer packs, the "Outlaws to the End" co-op mission pack, the "Myths and Mavericks" bonus pack, the "Solomon's Folly" single-player gang hideout and challenges, and all of the pre-release pre-order content.Product Identifiers

This will take you back... and get your ready for Redemption 2
Whether you have already played Red Dead on previous gen or have never played it; you should buy this immediately and play it as this is one of the Best Games of All Time (in my humble opinion). And if you have an XBOX ONE X... this is a No Brainer! Unfortunately, Rockstar did nothing in terms of a remaster and Undead Nightmare STILL has several glitches including the ANNOYING headless "phantoms" that force you to restart an area (one of the few things I disliked about the game). Red Dead itself is a 5 STAR GAME. The Undead Expansion is a 3.5 due to glitches. Like I mentioned, the game is not remastered and issues from the X360 days still exist... HOWEVER... playing on the X virtually eliminates any screen tearing or frame drops. Sheer, brute power of the latest console and how it handles non-optimized games is simply amazing. Not saying this game is a reason to buy an XBOX ONE X, but if you already have one... again a No Brainer. :)Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

RDR Reedems Itself over A Decade later
This game is amazing! It stood the test of time and it is still better then some of the newer games out there! I am a HUGE fan of the Red Dead World and i just had to have this after i finished playing and beating (like 11 times) RDR2. My take on this game

Nice to follow up characters from RDR2
If I weren't hooked on RDR2 I'd be blown away by the graphics, but RDR2 is beyond fantastic... RDR is okay, but not as quick reaction time and smooth transitions as RDR2. Great graphics/lots of in game options to discover
Aside from being forced to follow a particular mission early in the game, the gamplay and graphics are amazing for Xbox 360. I haven't heard much cursing except some in cutscenes (which can be skipped) but a language/minimal blood filter would still be a nice option. I also wonder why there are no kids or families in the towns like a real western town would have.
