An All-time Classic That Started It All.
This is perhaps the best engaging and entertaining TV drama series representing the Criminal Justice in action. While it is not exactly flawless with respect to legal matters, it is none the less a well researched and documented series with excellent acting, excellent story lines, and is well worth the money. This is truly a modern day timeless classic that will be relevant for years to come. This series was so successful that there were several spin-offs that were equally well done. I have to admit that I still enjoy the re-runs on TV and I cannot get enough of Jerry Orbach with his sarcastic quips and his hardened no nonsense approach to criminal investigations. The show has seen its share of characters during its 20 year run and each added something unique to the series. Excellent stuff and a must have if you enjoy television with police investigations and defense vs. prosecuter drama both in and out of the court room.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great show, problematic discs
So to begin with the series is one one my faves. Sadly I have ploughed through 8 seasons and on Every disc the final two episodes freeze and jump. I have checked each disc all are clean and free of scratches. Still glad to have this in my dvd library, but be aware this is one problematic boxset. Not sure why it is happening. Pertinent and Descriptive of our Society
First of all, it was on TV for 20 seasons. Somebody liked it for those long year. Secondly, It has a lot of legal and moral standards that are pertinent to our society. The disclaimers are there to protect them for lawsuits. but unfortunately the plots are very real in our society. Actors are very professional and believable. Law and Order complete series DVD 104 Disc Set
These are great if you never got to watch the whole series and I doubt that there are many people who has seen all of them. There are just a few of the stories that are fair but most are very good. We did not realize just how good the series was when it was on TV but for it to last twenty seasons it had to be pretty good even with the different cast members. Reviewing Life through 20 Years of Law and Order
You can almost see what was going on in the world by watching all 20 seasons of Law and Order. They refer to present-day events and people (at the time) throughout the whole 20 seasons. It's interesting to see what was considered drama that far back - especially before 9/11 occurred. THEN...everything changed. Love seeing Jerry Orbach again, Fred Thompson and Steven Hill, too. It's hard to believe that they are gone now. Dennis Farina was a great addition to the show. Goodbye to him, too. So much changes in 20 years. You have the chance to see character actors (soon to become stars in their own right) just getting started. So much fun to recognize people when they were just babies in comparison to the adult actors they become later. Stories really were "ripped from the headlines". It's also fun to match up the actual real-life event that inspired some of the stories. Tons of good actors made appearances and then went on to other things. There are several reasons why this series lasted 20 years.
This lengthy series never seemed to lose its ability to keep you involved through the use of great story scripts, top notch actors and the gritty NYC metro area for filming locations. Even now it is difficult to find streaming services which have the entire series in their libraries. Why not get the dvds and avoid the ongoing wait for the complete series via stream services? All twenty seasons of Dick Wolf's franchise heading classic, LAW AND ORDER, are in one classy box set and at a great price. I am already on Season Eight, and have never seen most of the episodes. Wonderful to go from the very beginning, to follow the character threads as they develop and play out. And the stories are just as fresh and timely as today's news. The box is beautiful and sturdy, holding individual seasons vertically in standard keep cases that hold four to six discs securely. Both halves of the HOMICIDE and SVU crossovers are also here.
