The lightweight lens has a rounded 7-blade diaphragm that boosts the item's performance and enhances the end results. The innovative close-range correction system increases the focal range and ensures superior image quality at close distances. Using ultrasonic vibrations, the Silent Wave Motor focuses the lens giving a precise autofocus operation. Sharp images with unbelievable details
This lens can do micro macro photography great! If you have kit lenses and you are considering another lens, get this one over the 35 mm or the 50 mm. Hands down much better value. I am very pleased with the lens. If it had some vibration reduction as well, that would be great. Zoom in on the pictures. You can see the pollen and the details in the pistols. Opens up a whole new world
My first experience with macro photography and am having a lot of fun exploring my backyard. images are very sharp, but with that comes a very small focal range which can be challenging. I often find myself bumping into subject with lens. I guess I will be looking to add a longer lens so I don't have to get that close. Maybe 105mm macro.

A very good macro lens on a Nikon 1 system camera
Although not the best focal length for a macro lens (it puts the front of the lens very close to the subject) on a DX body, it works very well on a Nikon 1 system body such as the V2 via the Nikon FT1 adapter. The small size and weight of this lens are a decent match for Nikon's discontinued mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras built around the 1" sensor.

Great Lens
Its a great lens for DX body, this is good all over lens for portrait and macro work to. The macro distance is little closer which may be accepted for 40mm but not good for smaller moving insects. But, the image quality is really good, sharp and nice bokh for all kind of photography.
