This Acme Silent Dog Whistle 535 has been designed to aid in dog training. The whistle is made from brass-plated nickel, and it is possible to adjust the frequency. It also comes with a protective end cap for the mouth piece to keep it clean between uses. The end cap is fastened to the whistle via a chain. Our Max can be a bit distracted at times, especially with other dogs in the vicinity, and being a terrier over excitement goes with him and his likes. I have had more success with whistling for him than barking commands. My whistling capability is not faultless and consistent, so I thought to try a dog whistle, and I am astounded. Max returns every time instantly and with full speed! - I have a question mark against the little screw with which I am suppose to lock the whistle at a certain adjustment. Well made whistle, more training needed with it. Previous plastic whistle was having more effect.
I already have an Acme red plastic whistle that my dog responds to really quite well. I felt that the Silent version would be more professional but my dog does not yet have the same interest in this as the red one. I am aware that I will need to adjust his training to suit the different tone. I am currently using the fourth bar setting. Another dog that he plays with does come to the silent whistle very well, with no training. That dogs owner was impressed with the way she responded to the red whistle and bought an Acme Black one. It’s not “better than expected” but that’s the only option given on the reviews now! You have to press yes or no. If you press yes they ask you why it’s better than expected. If you press no it sounds like a complaint. It’s a no-win situation for the purchaser. The product looks/feels good quality. Delivery was very quick but I haven’t actually tried it yet. Super value
Super quality. This would I am sure survive lots of use in all sorts of weather. The adjustment for whistle level is good and certainly at 200 hundred yards it was no problem for my dog to respond ( rewarded with a treat on returning to me !) I bought a separate lanyard to attach to the whistle which made it really easy to hang around the neck for hands free walking, and it is very light to wear. Dog whistle It works!
I bought this Acme dog whistle with some scepticism but I can now discreetly stop our neighbours dog constantly barking. As an added bonus it seems to work on my cat who starts scratching the kitchen cupboard when he is begging for food. Brilliant whistle for the price.
Needed a new whistle for my 13 week old fox red labrador so off to eBay it was. Many whistles to choose from with every price you could think of. Went for the Acme 535 as I've had one or two before. Managed to find one at a good reasonable price. The Acme whistle arrived and is a genuine Acme product, brand new with all the packaging and instructions. The whistle was out of the packaging asap and as always with Acme branded items in the condition you would expect,"perfect!" It has a nice and sturdy feel to it and for me think it is one of the better models Acme sells. You can change the tone on the 535 so its good for close work also far away commands, plus the added advantage of finding the right tone for your type of dog. Top quality British product - It works!.
Acme are a long-established British company. They have made whistles for the police, football referees, the trenches in WW1 and WW2. Also they have made fine quality dog whistles for control/behaviour, and also to command/direct/communicate with sheepdogs and working dogs. I used this whistle to change the behaviour of a dog which has .barking/behavioural problems - it is a good training aid. The whistle is very well-made, better than generic imports - and it is built to last a lifetime. As long as I don’t lose this one, I won’t need another. Buy British, buy the best. I purchased this dog whistle because I walk my dog on the beach each day & often it's windy. Then, she doesn't hear when I call out for her to come. The whistle cuts through the wind & she responds immediately, with minimum effort on my part. To begin with I couldn't workout how to open the whistle, but checking on u-tube solved that problem. My dog is a house pet not a working dog, so I only use it to attract her attention when I want her to 'come', not for complicated instructions. I read somewhere to buy a second whistle, as I was sure to misplace this one at some stage, and this I intend to do. The whistle is pricy, but good quality.
