    A quality product that puts new life into a standard HD-Ready TV. But you need a dish!

    The HUMAX HB-1100s Freesat receiver features built-in Wi-Fi to allow you to receive catch-up TV from the BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, Youtube, My5 and several other Apps. If you prefer to use a wired connection for a more stable signal, the HB-1100s is very capable. It receives around 200 TV and radio channels, with many bieng in 1080p High Definition. Although this model has no internal hard drive the USB port on the rear of the box allows for an external hard drive to be connected to allow you to record your favourite programmes, as well pausing and rewinding of live action. The easy to use award winning on-screen TV guide is superb and allows you to quickly select what you want at the touch of a button. The HB1100s has a unique showcase section which identifies the must watch programmes now and ahead..... The only let down is that, unlike it's big brother, the Humax HDR-1100s, you cannot add your own Apps - in order to update the Apps you have to do a factory reset (or something like that).

    Jimbo

    Although the picture is good on this box it isn't as used friendly as the original Humax Foxsat HD box I replaced it with they have gone backwards with some functions as far as I'm concerned but I'll have to get used to it and another thing is about the sound before I used RGB component cable connection because the sound was far better through RCA cables but the new one doesn't have that option and the sound is inferior which seems stupid to me !

  • Great value for money

    I bought this item to replace an aging, though still functioning, Humax Foxsat HD. The setup was straight forward, with only one slight glitch, when connecting to ITV Hub. But after powering down and restarting the Humax and router this problem was solved. An unexpected bonus was the ease with which this box was transformed into a fully featured PVR. Simply by plugging in a 500GB hard disk (recycled from an old Sky box and mounted in an externally powered enclosure) into the USB port, the box assumed all the functions of more expensive models - pausing, rewinding, scheduling recordings, etc. No fiddling required, it just worked. The television guide is excellent and the ability to go back over a number of days and to watch programmes from the beginning, when channel hopping, (with certain channels) is great. Another unexpected bonus came with the media share App in the Humax menu, this immediately picked up my Serviio server, and allows me to play the media stored on my desktop PC. After a month of use, the normal TV, catch up, media share and YouTube have all worked flawlessly. The only thing con I have found is the delay in booting-up from cold, about 15-20 secs or so but I can live with that;

  • Only one channel

    This is a great product with a good menu & easy to set up. I bought with a WD 1tb hard drive. The downside is you cannot record one channel whilst watching another. I think it’s an important feature & if Humax want to compete with Virgin & Sky need to address. Otherwise a great little box I won’t be sending it back but do regret not doing further research so I knew before hand.

  • Very Glad I Bought It!

    I bought a new dish as the old one had become tatty and rusty and, as an afterthought, purchased the Humax Freesat box to replace my very old, cheap box that I have used in the bedroom for more years than I can remember. I am so pleased that I did. I plugged in a spare USB HDD that I had and also downloaded the Freesat App to my phone. The result is that I can see what's on wherever I am - and record any program, or series, if I want (via my phone). The Humax box itself is easy to control via the remote and includes iPlayer and various other "Catchup" apps. And all free-to-receive! I have never and will never pay to watch TV!

  • One of the best quality Satellite receivers available.

    This is the second Humax box in this series that I have purchased. The first was the "recording version", with a built-in Hard Disc Drive, so this ( the HB ) is very similar to use and is easy to set up. These are very good quality items. After finally getting rid of my Sky system and relying entirely on Freesat, I find the Humax boxes equally user-friendly and, of course much cheaper to view. The addition of the 2nd Humax unit gives me enormous "viewing flexibility". A very good box, which can be used for recording with the addition of an external USB if necessary. This particular unit was sold at a very reasonable price, with all the necessary accessories etc. A very good purchase and well worth the modest outlay.

  • Does the job so easily!

    Just what I wanted, Humax has been my choice fot a while, and as they were now not being manufactured I had bought a different make. It was very difficult to use, and caused so many problems that I resorted to a second hand Humax. Absolutely delighted with it, easy to set up, and easy to use. It is for a holiday cottage I rent out, and previous guests were having difficulty with the other machine. Now, no problem!

  • Great item, everything that Virgin box can do without the cost.

    I suppose everyone is wary when buying used products but this item is in excellent condition and fully meets my expectations. Literally took minutes to set up, connect to my internet, and scan for channels. Although the description did say 200 channels I can only receive 184 (hence 4 stars not 5), however for me this is fine as all the channels I need are there. Great to have internet connectivity as easy to change over to the internet if the satellite signal goes down. I've connected an external hard drive which means I can record programs if I wish, although you can't watch one program and record another but the 7 day scroll back facility makes this irrelevant. I'm able to rewind, fast forward, and pause, so I can do pretty much everything I was able to do on my Virgin Media box but without the expensive monthly subscription. Brilliant product which I would recommend without any qualms.

  • Works well , cost-efficient second-hand. Freesat problem solved .

    Our smart TV has no Freesat menu and we have no aerial signal. So I got this second-hand to provide a fully functioning menu and to program recordings in advance. I plugged in an old usb hdd with separate power supply which works without any action needed by me.( A portable hdd powered from the usb socket does NOT work.) The youtube app search facility does not work , so we use the apps on the TV itself , no problem, and you can see 4K that way if ever it is offered, which you cannot on the Humax. Other apps we have not tried on the Humax. ( Later additional note: The BBC and ITV apps work well at full HD and now use the supplied broadband signal much more effectively than my TV, so maybe my TV has become defective). Picture quality seems to be full 1080HD and looks good to me. It can be a bit slow to wake up , so press 'on' and wait 30seconds. The brand-new price looks rather a lot, almost as much as a new TV now; and most smart TVs will do freesat and record to usb hdd, so costs need to be considered .

  • Great little unit - better than the one it replaced.

    Even better than my hb-10000s it replaces because I can set and cancel recordings from anywhere - the 1000 had a wifi dongle which worked but the remote recordings feature didn't work.
