Useful tool rather than a bells and whistles gadget.
I'm not sure this is something for people who want to speed and avoid cameras/lasers etc, but it is for someone who wants to drive within the speed limit and wants to avoid getting caught out on the odd, unlucky occasion he has crept above the limit. There is a real benefit, in my view, for buying a single or dual function device rather than one which attempts to d everything. This unit has a large display which allows you to clock the information using peripheral vision, or very slight movement, and since the information is mainly only the current speed limit plus your current speed it is easy to keep tabs on. The centre circle activates when a trap is coming up. The visual and audible warnings are about as good as they can be, and plenty good enough. As far as speed limit accuracy goes, it is pretty much spot on for main roads and most minor roads. Be prepared for it to get it wrong sometimes on the country lanes. At first I thought that was a key failure, but as it happens using the unit conditions you to watch more acutely for the speed limit anyway. The unit picked up high risk zones regularly and noticed me of cameras I did not know existed on routes I drive quite often, so very useful. The only real downside to an otherwise well designed unit is the speaker quality. At full volume there is so much distortion one can hardy make out what is being said. It lets the unit down, and I would have thought there is no real excuse for it. However, dial down the volume a bit and it gets better, though hardly what one would call clear audio quality. However, as this seems to be a common complaint with units of this type, regardless of brand, I guess it something one needs to get used to if one is going to ue one of these things.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Ok in UK, useless in Europe
I bought this for a trip to France as my long vision means I can’t read the km/h on my speedo. Display is clear and both speed limit and speed are easy to see, however both update slowly when changing. You can load speed limits and not cameras for a particular country so it can in theory be made legal in France, however speed limits on all major and minor roads are so inaccurate it renders it useless. No such problem in the UK. I mount it in the centre console in my 3-series BMW by wedging it by the drinks holder, so no fitting required. Updating the unit can drive you mad and servers were down when I first bought it. It’s a useful device in the UK but really you’re much better off using Waze, if you can see the tiny speed icons. Waze is far more accurate, much quicker to respond and also free. Needless to say I won’t be using the Snooper on my way home.

I'm very pleased with my purchase once you have registered the device on the snooper site you have unlimited access to all types of cameras throughout England and Europe. Good - when you can get it to pick up satellites. Seems to take forever to lock on. Once on, it works well, and so far has picked up all that it should. However if you switch it off you have to go through the same palaver of waiting for ages while it decides to lock on again. If you have have plenty time on your hands you can live with it, but if your in a hurry making short journeys leave it switched on. The downside to that is the built in battery doesn’t last too long. (10-15 minutes at most), so you need a permanent live connection, Hence only 3 stars. If it wasn’t for that it would be excellent. From what I’ve read it’s a common problem with this device. An essential" must have" for all motorists who try to keep within the countries speed limits.
I have had one of these speed limit and speed camera detectors for a number of years and found it invaluable when travelling in the UK. There is so much concentration needed in todays motoring with so much signage, it is sometimes easy to miss speed limit signage. These instruments are so easy to read at a glance and keep the driver aware of any new speed limits. Great Display but with Technical let downs.
The clarity of the voice is sometimes not understandable. The SPEED Display is 10% slower than the Vehicle and that of another speed meter it was compared with, ie. at 20mph it reads 18mph and at 70mph it reads 63mph.This was reported to both Snooper Customer Support and Technical Department with yet no reply. Failed to download.
Waste of time. Instructions very poor. Spent ages trying to download the camera info. only to keep getting 'Download failed' message. Given up, and sent it back - too much like hard work for me.
