Handy
I'll be the first one to buy an upgraded battery should they ever have one available. Wish the suction was more powerful, or you could use the high setting longer then 5 minutes. It's not bad I'd buy it all over again. It's very handy the cordless feature is something you can't live without once you've had it. No more lugging around the heavy( Dyson) upright and having to plug it in. I don't think I'd have been as happy if I had paid retail. I paid 234$ shipped and that was fair. The retail price is a joke really. O and buy the way it's way smaller then it looks in the picture's, to me that was a good thing I actually like it's compact size, makes it easy to use.

Great for Carpeting -- Too Bad I Have Smooth Floors!
This model does have two suction levels -- however the low suction is not enough to do anything but move things around and the higher suction level blows out a significant amount of air blasting nearby lightweight objects from their original position -- (think papers etc.). I have smooth floors with only a few area rugs -- it will suck the rug off the floor when it is on high -- but then you have a very short running time. I like my old one better. I guess I got the wrong model for my needs -- cat fur, dog fur, and feathers.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Dyson V8 Replacement Battery from PowerExtra
The battery came in with nice packaging. Charged and tested. My V8 Absolute, when it was new 2 years ago, with the original OEM battery, can operate about 10 minutes at MAX mode with the Direct-drive cleaner attached. The same V8 Absolute now, with this battery from PowerExtra, also delivered about 10 minutes of use under the same mode with the same roller attached; however, the suction is noticeably less than that when operate with the now almost depleted original OEM battery. My original OEM battery lasted for 24 months before it started to show deterioration (now only 3 minutes of operation with full charge). I will have to wait and see how long this battery from PowerExtra can last. For the price I paid, which is 40% cheaper than an original OEM battery, I will probably live with it for now. It is really up to you to decide whether you would go for this off-the-market product or to spend a little more for an original OEM product. Great lightweight easy to use vacuum!
Dyson D8 is light weight, simple to use and empty. The only negative is that on full power the charge does not last long (maybe 12/15 minutes. This refurbished model does not come with any parts but don't miss the attachments. This vacuum is my obsession! So easy and convenient to use. The carpet in my apartment is very short and it works great on both the carpet and the laminate flooring. Another awesome thing about it is that the base and attachments will fit in a plastic grocery bag making it very easy to take out to my car and vacuum the car.
