These routers are stable, reliable, and have good speed and throughput. Solid performance, very reliable connectivity

Over the last few years, I've had excellent luck with this Netgear router. So much so, I've purchased some for friends and family. Extremely reliable. No need to constantly reboot the router to get it working again, they've been running for months without hiccup. Excellent throughput performance especially with devices like a Roku TV streaming movies, NetFlix, Amazon Prime video, etc. Easy firmware updates - I've mostly used DD-WRT with these units to allow for better security, configuration options and reporting. Very flexible platform.

    Netgear WNDR3800

I bought 2 of these and one of them reboots by its self all the time. The other one works great except for the "Find" button does not work. They have been refurbished but not properly repaired. I have one that I bought new almost a year ago and it work's great.

  • I love it.

This is, by far, the best router that I've ever owned. I've only had it for a short time and haven't had time to play with some of the nice features, but for speed and stability, so far it has been flawless. Both bands work great without one or the other dropping out periodically, like other dual band routers that I've owned (and have been relegated to the junk pile). Set up is really easy and settings are really more user friendly than other brands. (Thanks, NetGear!) Seems to be fairly flexible as far as what can be done with it. Again, I haven't had much time to play with it, but the available toys look promising using the internal web set up. (I understand that the app isn't as extensive with available settings but is supposed to be good for non technical folks.) This one is a keeper.

  • One of the most reliable cheap routers

if you don't need the fastest Wi-Fi out there - this is still one of the best consumer routers available. You can install various different firmwhere is on it down and extended to much more expensive SOHO grade hardware. Being completely Atheros based, it does not require the use of reverse-engineered or buggy firmware which needs to be reset often. I've had these units running for over a year without an issue in rather busy locations.

  • WNDR3800 - still the king of Wireless-N

If you do NOT need 802.11ac and are happy with 802.11n, then this is the router you want. These sold for a mint when they were first introduced back in 2011 and now you can buy them for 20-30 on eBay. I have owned many of this exact unit (WNDR3800) and have provided many of them to family and friends as solid troublefree upgrade units when flashed with the FSF-endorsed libreCMC firmware. Fast 680Mhz Atheros SoC, 128MB RAM, dual band a/b/g/n with great range, easy to flash and impossible to brick. I can't say enough nice things about the WNDR3800.

  • Netgear N600 Router

Netgear N600 Router - great router for $20. Really easy to setup. Make sure you unplug and plug back in your modem after you connect the router to it.

  • Stock firmware is also good

I'm currently using the stock firmware, and it's still tons better than any router I've used. Unfortunately, I did attempt to use DDWRT on it, but apparently not all versions of the WNDR3800 support it, especially the one I received, which is the model containing "1CHNAS". But nonetheless, I don't think I'll need to flash it with a custom firmware any time soon.

  • Perfect Router

Perfect for my home network even in 2016. Router is plenty fast and good signal strength all over my house. Best feature is the app for iPhone where you can adjust all the settings and block your kids from naughty places or turn their internet off for bad behavior!
