Practical and Useful for physical rehabilitation too
A xylophone was recommended to me as a beneficial device for physical rehabilitation purposes. It certainly appears to be a wise choice. From simple coordination, mild gripping hand and wrist exercise, cognitive challenge to timing and pitch routines, and an exhilaration feeling of good musical feedback; etc. - this rather simple instrument fills the need. Certainly not the best quality tonal wise but more than adequate for my purposes. After all, it doesn't cost very much. Was everything perfect - no. The lower octave G and G# were both not physically flat on the ends as delivered due to probably being dropped in shipping. However, both still floated on their rubber grommets and are playable. The mallets are rather plain but perfectly adequate if gentle strokes are used. I expect many enjoyable hours using this device.

They work just fine.
This is a pretty nifty set of chimes. It folds in the middle if you are going to put it away but that isn't happening. The pitch is just fine although the 6 year old who is playing them needs ear plugs. In order to hit them correctly and get the "ring" that they are supposed to have, it hurts his ears. However, so would a real Glockenspiel so either pick up a pair of rubber mallets or get some cheap ear plugs.
